Anyone fished the Upper Truckee from north of Carson Pass? I wanted to try for some cutts, but have concern that there is no water left.

Any input appreciated.

That river is a small brookie / small rainbow creek !!

If you want Cutts, this is not the place to go.

There was only one "landlocked" lake that did have Cutts four years ago, three miles away.

However two years ago we only caught rainbows.

Maybe someonr will chim in for some advise.

I.ve seen cuts caught at Caples but that was in early June and I have seen pics of cuts caught at Red Lake but that was a month ago or so. With that said I guess I dont have a clue( [smiley=help.gif]. Sorry wish I could been more help.

If you are looking for cutts in their original drainage, there are easier locations to fish.

Round lake is nothing but Cuts. I'ts a 3 mile hike in from the Big meadows trail head located on Hwy 89 going up Luther Pass from Meyers. Gold Kastmasters off the rocks at the far end of the lake near the inlet always work. Let the lure sink to the bottom then pop it up and reel in slow. Most of the fish are in the 10" to 15" inch range but up to an 18" cut is possible. Hope this helps.
