Well we planned to fish Comanche but had to get back a little sooner so we decided on Stumpy instead. *Got on the water about 8:00, tried all the normal spots that have produced well for thirty years and NADA. *Tried Uncle Larry's, wedding rings, excels, apexes and miscellaneous stuff behind dodgers with no luck. *Marked alot of fish everywhere, but water temp was only 52 degrees. *
So we decided to try a new spot, just North of the dam. *Got the first hit on a half a worm behind a chartruese dodger. * So we put down chartruese Uncle Larry's and anything else chartruese that we had, and started picking up fish on every pass. *25 feet otw at 1.25 mph, with the lures about 75 feet back. *Limited out on some pretty nice holdovers in 1-1/2 hours once we got the right color down at the right spot. *It was an odd trip because some of the things that always produce at Stumpy wouldn't, and yet one specific color put fish in the cooler today.

Real fishermen get there early ... but Larry and I got to Stumpy about 3pm and stopped at the parking area. *We watched this fellow launch his dual-quad Chevy powered water rocket not realizing after his un-muffled joyride every fish in the lake had fled two miles upstream!

We found the pullout and a nice spot across the dam. *I rigged a baby crawler and hot chocolate kinda mini marshmellow on a lightweight bait hook with sliding sinker. *Larry on a tip from the Easter bunny globbed half a jar of orange powerbait on his treble hook. *I tossed out far and then close and then in-between. *I thought I saw a couple taps, but got no takes. *Nothing moved the powerbait either. *The few boats we saw fishing didn't seem to be having any luck either. It was a nice couple hours spent in the pines visiting and soaking up the scenery.

Correct me if I am wrong but 10HP limit and 5MPH lake........... Why do people bring their big old boats and race them around a nice quiet fishing lake like that? Go to Folsom for crying out loud.........I see Stumpy is on DFG's plant list this week. Was planning on going up but the weather may put a halt to that. Maybe it won't be that bad and I can still get up there anyway.

I fished Stumpy Saturday morning from about 6:30 to 9:30 am and did quite well. Trolled gold and copper colored needlefish behind flashers. There was a large hatch with alot of rises. When the hatch died, so did the bite.

Sorry to hear about the guy tearing up the lake. Saturday was my first time at Stumpy, and I thoroughly enjoyed how quite it was. It was nice to see people trolling behind kyaks.

This is what brought on the word "LAKE LICE" What a A**. Of all the lakes they have.
Too bad you couldn't have gotten the number off the boat.
What a loser.
