What type of lures are the best for trout?

Welcome to the boards. Your question is a bit open to interpretation so I'll try a few. *Lures for trout in streams that I've had success with are Panther Martins and Meps spinners in small and medium size depending on the size of the stream and water flow.

In lakes from the shore, the kastmasters and spoons as well as the spinners work. If you are in a boat and trolling, flashers with spinners or just a trolled nightcrawler (behind a flasher or dodger) works great. *Early in the year, troll near shore and near the top of the water (top 10 feet). As the weather gets warmer fish deeper in the cooler water.

Where are you thinking of going and are you fishing from a boat or from the shore? *This will help others give you some good input.

Good fishing!

Im fishing in some smaller lakes in northern AZ. I will be fishing of shore or of some docks. I had been using some rooster tails and they do alright then I switched over to Z-Ray's and they seem to excite the fish a little bit more. I just want to get a little more action out of lure.

Maybe try a Kastmaster, Superduper or Bouyant.

my favorite is a 1/4 chrome kastmaster in lakes and reservoirs, and a small 1/16 oz. brown rooster tails in small stream. good luck and welcome to the sniffer!

Kastmasters and Buoyants are my go to lures. You can't beat Kastmasters for casting distance either and I like to fish them a little slow with some gel scent on them.

I am from New Mexico and have fished Ariz quite a bit. I always had a lot of luck with brightly colored Z-Rays. Of course on the streams a Mepps is always worth a try.

for off the shore i have found that mepps is a good lure. yellow w/ orange dots has worked the best for me. kastmaster and bluefox makes up my list of the most used in my box. * [smiley=angling.gif]
