Got up early this morning and headed up to Lake Almanor with my fiancee'. *We were expecting a bit of snow, but not 2"+ to come down on us while we were fishing. :o *We launched the drift boat at the Prattville USFS ramp and headed south towards the jetties and Plumas Pines Resort. *We fished to the intake towers and back past our launch ramp. *I caught a 17" brown on an olive beadhead wooly bugger using an intermediate sinking fly line as we were headed back to the ramp. ;D

Here's a shot before we launched again, this time at the Canyon Darn ramp.

We fished Geritol Cove due to the winds picking up. *I then caught a 19" king salmon on an orange trolling fly (w/ sinking line). *He put up a great fight!

We saw Bryan "Big Daddy" out fishing as we were headed back in to trailer the boat and he said they were also doing well fishing. :) *In fact, he didn't even want to leave but his clients had previous engagements.

Water temperature was right at 47 degrees, air temp was 32-36 degrees. *BRRR! :'(

That's a great looking king. *Almanor is a beautiful lake. *I love watching the ospreys and eagles do their thing up there. *I can't wait to fish it again. *Great report & picture.

PP, are you rowing or using a trolling motor? I would love to take my drift boat out on some lakes and this kind of stuff makes want to do it even more. A king on the fly would be fun.

You know you've got a good guide when he wants to keep fishing even though the clients want to hang it up for the day!
