Holly and I went to Folsom today launching around 10AM at Browns Ravine Hobie Ramp. I have to say it was probably the easiest launch I've ever had at Folsom, especially in the winter.

We trolled up the So Fork. I picked up 2 planter size rainbows but 1 was really good looking, full fins and good coloring.

Around 2:30 I got a good hit and put this bad boy in the net.

The lure was a copcar-ish excel behind a silver & green sling blade. No worm tip or scent. The downrigger was at 14 feet in about 25 feet of water and 25-30 feet from shore. I'm not real familiar with the areas, but it was just up river of the cove with the floating head and on the west side.

Here is another pic of the king and 1 of a rainbow(just because I thought it was a cool picture)

Looks like the 2007 fishing year is off to a good start. :)

Nice King. You might have caught a few more fish if you were wearing the right hat. I have not be able to fish Folsom yet. At least you were fishing today.

Dang Allfish, you didn't tell me you were going to actually catch fish when you PM'ed me ;D ;D I might have gone ;) Did you "let" Holly reel in any fish? ::) I wonder who will be the first to catch one of those Kokonees "they" say they put in there 8-)

He didn't let me reel anything in. In fact, while he was reeling he made me drive the boat on my knees. It was fun to watch him catch fish I guess. Maybe I lost the touch, I'd quit but I just bought a fishing license and I need to get my 50 bucks worth of fun out of it ;)

Allfish, I would tell you that a captain always lets the other people in the boat catch the fish, but it seems like you corrected that problem by making Holly the captain, stroke of genius there buddy ;D
Nice looking fish :D

AllFish,

Nice catch!

Is the water too low to launch at Folsom Point? I always launch there, but I haven't been out in a couple of weeks.

Maybe I should try Browns, heh?

Thanks guys! I forgot tomention all 3 fish caught were on the same set up and all at 14 feet on the rigger.

I did not know Sportsmans Whse sold Reebok
The Reebok hoodie, and almost all the clothes I wear, came from another retailer where I used to have special shopping privledges ;) :)

And GREAT hat
Maiden voyage for the new hat. I don't know what will happen tonight, but no matter what that hat is going fishing again :D

I went to Browns as it was closer to where I wanted to fish. I really think the Hobie ramp is one of the better around and probably the best at Folsom.

Looks like there is some size to those kings now and makes ya wonder if a rolled shad would be a good option to start trolling.
I have a hoochie that I got from KokaneeMart last year that worked real well on the kings.

Nice going, Allfish! Aren't those kings fun. They sure put up a good fight.

I was out there on Wed. and my son and I caught 4 rainbows and one average size king. All fish were caught on top and down to 11'. :)
