Fishing is red hot for one hour and dead the next. I think it has something to do with the moon phase.

Most of us will likely miss those deep ones. Doc has brain washed us into believeing that anything over 50' deep is a no-no. Because they swim away doesn't mean they live the next 24 hours. On our last trip, we marked many fish in the 50' - 60' depth range and would go after them. Abe, what is the surface temperature now?

I brought one up from 70 feet and decided to keep it. I threw it in the live well and it lived all day and was thrashing around with a ton of life left in him when I got home. Hard for me to believe that you are harming the fish untill you get into the third atmosphere at 90 feet. Oh and the water temp was 46.5 on xmas eve.

I think I'll take the Marine Biologist's word on that one. By the way, isn't it illegal to keep or transport Trout in a livewell? :-?

I believe you are correct if you are going to release the fish or use it for bait. if you are going to keep it it would be fine.
