A friend and I launched my pontoon boat at Bagby at 7:00am, another buddy was fishing solo in his boat and he launched with us as well. *The rain held off for about an hour then rained on and off all day. *We had the first fish in the boat within a couple minutes and the fishing was nonstop for most off the day. *Each one of us ended up catching at least 25 fish a piece, probable closer to 40. *The action slowed for a while but trying some different lures seemed to wake them back up. *Largest fish of the day was a little over 2 pounds with most being planter size and about 10 in the 1 lb range. *Every lure that hit the water except swimbaits caught at least one fish. *These included Castmasters, Needlefish, Jake's, Humdingers, Cripplures, Thomas Boyants, and a nightcrawler behind a suction cup. *Top lined all day in the bridge area. *Only saw two other boats all day and they were bass fishing. *Water temp was 56. *We kept 5 fish and let the rest go. *One fish had eggs and none had shad in their stomachs. *I do not suggest launching at Bagby unless you have a truck that can handle the size of boat you own. *It was some of the best trout action I've had but the fish could have been a little bigger.
My buddy in his boat.
Me and the largest fish of the day.

Lots of little guys up there and in the major creeks right now. Finding the holdovers is really tough.

Thanks for the update. Ended up going to PF, with about the same results. I can not figure out where the larger fish are. Last year we were catching 4 to 5 lbers pretty regular and way before this time of year. Sure not many people fishing these lakes now a days.

The stomach contents are surprising, no shad..... Go figure. Maybe we need to try a hook with no bait. LOL

Your pictures look good.

Keep after them.

Wow great report Marty! 25-40 fish, that's outstanding! Sounds like the river is the way to go.

I agree, finding the larger fish is a lot tougher this year. I'm sure they will show up eventually, maybe just a little later than usual.
