View Full Version : Lake Almanor 12/4 w/ PICS

Took the drift boat up to Lake Almanor this morning to see how the fishing and snow levels were. *I arrived at the lake at 10am, and had the first fish by 10:30. *The snow is melting quickly along the lake edges and the roads were pretty clear. *The lake water temperature was 44-45 degrees (on the surface according to my fish finder). *I fished the cove by the dam and the east shoreline rocky areas. *I ended up hooking 7, and landing only 3 rainbows. *Talked to some locals who said that it's been pretty slow up there for this time of year. * Saw lots of schooling trout surfacing. *I caught 2 on black zebra midges (size 20), and the other fish on a trolled silver/black small rapala. *Biggest trout took the zebra midge.
