Went out Sat with Froggie and Binck. Froggie wanted more time doing her own rigging and Binck wanted to learn to use a downrigger on her own. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] We went late cuz the little bite there has been lately has been late. We practiced and trolled upand down Rose Island and nothing. [smiley=captjack.gif] The rigger lesson was going well. At 12:00 sharp ...wham Froggie's rod starts bouncing after a battle involving 3 people four rods and a net she lands a nice 2 1/2# bow. We head over towards the dam and nuthing. I driving back towards Rose Ilse and blam Binck's rod starts bouncing. She had her very first reely nice bow on the line. (during her battle I reeled in a spotted bass so I guess we had a double) After a reel fight (this time add a Bimini top to the equatiion) a few "Oh My Gods" and some true FUN! We net a 2lb 12oz bow. IT IS A HOOT to see the rookie make it good! Congrats Binck. [smiley=cheerleader.gif] They get everything rigged up (on their own) and Froggie takes over driving. Binck heads to the front of the boat for 2 seconds and her rod doesn't bounce it bends double! I pick it up and try to give it to her and we do this "You take it"..."no its your turn"..."its your rod take it" routine while this huge fish is yanking and bouncing on the rod!!! [smiley=rotfl2.gif] [smiley=rotfl2.gif] She finally takes HER rod and the fight is on. [smiley=fencing.gif]This thing just kept dancing and diving and taildancing...it was great. She had never had a fish rip out line like that. When it was over we netted her first 3# trout. Congratulations Froggie and Binck!!! [smiley=worthy.gif]You guys caught three nice fish on your own rigging. [smiley=clap.gif]
All three fish were reel battles with lots of jumping and diving and they were all over 2 1/2#. (on chartuese Apex and a fire tiger Apex no worm, kreel scent, at 55-65 feet, 1.6 on the GPS)
Ok so Sunday I went out by myself figuring I might get lucky. Not a chance. I went 7:00-12:00 and was totally absolutely, completely skunked. I'll never get Froggie on the lake early again.

What a great weekend! I got to spend time on the lake with my wonderful wife and friend, had wonderful weather, and got to spread fishing fever a little bit. Ain't life great?
Tight lines
Tortuga.
I'll get pics on in a little while.

You came in pretty good, but remember, I was at coyote cove and you were at rose island. Not bad considering I have a 3ft antenna. It got hot as August bout 2pm.

Thats true I forgot you guys were around the bend from us. Yeah I was getting pretty warmby noon. I think I'm gonna try the evening bite next weekend. I haven't had any luck at all in the morning since like August. Another couple of weeks and things might start picking up.
Too bad we aren't fishing for bass huh? Seems like the lake is full of them...everyones catching em.

Oh my G-D, I just noticed, Tortuga actually has 100 more posts than I do. He's been glued to the computer every afternoon. Now i see why. [smiley=angling.gif]

Snoose, I'lm going to try to get her on this board, that way she can make her own "fishing" arrangements. When are you going out again...I'll pass on the invite. [smiley=horn.gif] This board needs a "hitchhiker" smiley.
