We went out to Bridgeport reservoir today and fished just north of the marina. *We caught eight in about 5.5 hours. *Most of them were caught on inflated crawlers and a couple on yellow power bait in about 8-10 ' of water.
The day started out kind of gloomy.
The fish were biting about once every half hour with a couple of flurries. *By 9:00am the lake was flat as glass but we didn't see much sun.
The fish we caught ranged from 1.75 lbs. to 4.5 lbs.
The pictures don't do the fish justice. *These were some serious footballs and they put up a great fight!

Nice fish. Were there many other boats on the water? Should be heading up that way Thur. but w/out the boat. Probably fish Lundy, June Loop and maybe Virgina.

Not too many boats. *Maybe twenty-five or so at the peak. *The trees are definately peaking right now! *The Aspens are completely red and orange. *Good fishing, Good scenery. *You should try Virginia Lakes they are catching some nice fish up there and the colors should be spectacular. ;)

My Dad left this morning for Bridgeport. He will prbably be fishing Robinson Creek, and the lower Twin.

That is magnificent country, with the color change, and winter, fast approaching. Everything is bulking up for the cold.

Could you all see the "sleeping Indian" way up on the mountain range, from where you were at the Resevouir? In the third pic, you can almost see the location of where he lays, up at the top of the ridge.

Beautiful trout, good catch!
Was the meat pink?

Great Report Tony - Nice Fish!! Can you still launch at the Marina? Tom [smiley=angling.gif]

Thanks Tom. *Boats were launching yesterday but keep in mind the marina will close at the end of October, even though the lake doesn't close to fishing until the middle of November.

The West Walker is kicking out some nice fish right now and they stocked a bunch of big browns. *The water looks perfect for fishing...finally! They put some of those browns in Lundy also.

Great pictures, Tony. I'm thinking about going there in about 2 weeks or so, hopefully fishing is going to be even better.

Send me a PM when you go and maybe I'll join you. Remember Jeffrey will close the marina around the end of October.

Troutfan, you made it back from south of the border . Had a good trip and didn't come back with any thing you didn't want to come back with? Nice pics. Heard that the weather up there has been cool, very cool. Some rumors have it that Bridgeport has been the coldest place in the nation for a few of the last 5 days. Keep it up iron-man

The morning temperature was 18F and the wind chill made it 10F. *As long as the wind doesn't blow too hard and the fish bite it's balmy!
and no I didn't bring anything back from Mexico that I didn't plan on! ;D

You can see the sleeping Indian in the third photo.

Viking -Bane,

Your right, I looked a little closer, and found him. For all that don't know about the "Sleeping Indian", legend has it (version that I have heard) a lone brave fell in love with a woman from another tribe. The chiefs forbid them to mary, or mabey she died, can't remember, anyway, this brave was so heartbroken, that he climbed to the top of the mountain, and layed down and died.

If you look at the right side of the ridge, about 1/2" into the picture (just where the snow stops), you can just make out his nose, mouth and chin, and possibly a pair of folded hands over his heart.

I think the pictures did plenty of justice! Those are some monsters! I can imagine the head shaking fun cranking those guys to the boat must've been. I head down to Ridgecrest once or twice a year and pass through the bridgeport area on the way, is this lake open during Christmas? and is it near the freeway? I might have to give it a try on my way down there!

Bridgeport resevoir is open during the general trout season so it will close on November 15 and reopen at the end of April!
