I have a question..Has anybody ever fished or had luck on the American River by hiway 50 past Placerville?? We went by it today heading over to 88 and Silver and Caples Lakes..I'm just curious cause I spied alot of super pools..later friends... :)

I fish the American river from the Kyburz/silverfork area east towards Strawberry.They plant the area a few times every summer but there are quite a few native fish,usually small,in the area too.If you hike up the silverfork from it's confluence with the American the fishing can be pretty good too for native fish.

There's a North, Middle, and South fork of the American, the one you're talking about is the South ;)
