View Full Version : lake recommendations

I am planning my summer and found an extra open weekend the end of July. I am either going on a weekend motorycycle trip, or spending the weekend on a lake in my kayak fishing. How is the trout bite that late at say Loon, or other high lakes that you can use electric motors? Anything along 80 or 50 would work fine. I'm not brave enough to put downriggers on the kayak, so the fish would have to be reachable with splitshot or small weights.

A second option is to combine a motorcycle (street) trip with bank fishing in the evening and mornings. If that happens, my range is extended to 200+ miles from Sactown, but it would have to have good motorcycle roads 8-)

any ideas?

Better go really high if you want to avoid downriggers. I would go from Sac to hwy 120 over Tioga, hit the eastside and then head back on Highway 108, Sonora Pass. The roads are awsome for a bike and the high lakes stay nice and cool. You can rent a boat at Saddlebag Lake, and Lundy?
