O.K, No fools but two whopped Fisherguys!!!
APRIL FOOLS DAY 4/1: Well, what a day! I was lucky enough to get a P.M. from Set_The_Hook on friday. He said it was Pyramid or bust for Sat. My eyes lit up, I've never fished that lake in my life! *[smiley=yahoo.gif] *Friday was my birthday, so getting up at 4:30 Saturday morning was a tough proposition, *[smiley=outcold.gif] but I REALLY wanted to fish.
Headed up the pass in a blizzard, white roads all the way up. I left all my notes w/STH's number at home, so I could not let him know I was going to be an hour late. But, when I arrived, he was in good spirits, and we were on our way. When we got to the lake, the wind was BLOWING! (not to warm either!) [smiley=cold.gif]. I now understand CONFUSED SEAS!!! But we were not discouraged...He decided to toss spoons for a while and hope the wind would die off...Thank god he had an extra set *of waiters! So we parked at windless and tossed spoons for about 30-45min. Nothing for me, but STH had numerous fish come to his knees, and landed one *beautiful 18 inch lady.
Thats when the wind died and the fishing really started. I'm not sure exactly sure what time we launched but it was around 10:30. He started with a very colorful lyman(not sure what #, sorry guys) and I had a frog with red dots. He hooked into one about 15min into our troll and I got one just after he put his back. Two fish in about 5min! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] We knew it would get better. I think I landed one or two more, then he landed a couple larger ones. But The frog pattern was getting more hits, so he changed. About five or ten minutes later, he put wood into a nice fish. After a few good tugs he got it close enough to net. I scooped him up, what a nice lookin hog!!! :o This fish was almost 26inches, and a hair over 6lbs.
Three or four fish later I get ripped big. He went down fast, and I had to work hard at getting him to the top, but after about 5min, STH could net him. A golden male that tipped the scale at about 7lbs. and about 26 and one half inches. Picked up fish all day after, never even got to finish our last short run, we both hooked fish going out. LOL! *Off the water around 4pm. One of the best days of fishing in my life, we caught around 18 fish in about 4-5hrs, all quality, beautiful cutts, most fish in the 2-3lb range, four or five 3-4lbs..and two big males. We fished in 10 to 20 ft of water all day, at about 1.3-1.7mph. All fishing was done from either worrier or windless to the nets and back.
I just want to thank Set_The_Hook for the great time, *[smiley=dankk2.gif] He'll have some pic's soon! I can't wait!
I also want to thank Doc [smiley=doc.gif], I would not have had that plug if not for you.

O yea, I had 2 or 3 fish yank my line while getting it ready to clip into the DR!!...That braid gave me some nice slices in the fingers!

In addition to Trout_Sharks post, WE HAD A GREAT DAY!
Mikes snowy ride over could have been better :( Not my idea of fun but Pyramid didn't disappoint us. Here are some of the fishes...
We'll start off with Mike's biggest fish :)
Another of the same fish
Just a pretty fish
The Lyman color of the Day
Fish catching machine
My biggest for the day
I'm going to have to go with bigger than 2/0 siwashes on the Lymans, Mike had probably a dozen major strikes that missed the hook. Maybe 4/0 is the way to go.
OBTW we released all of our fish.
I had a great time fishing with Trout_Shark and look forward to fishing with him anytime.
Your excitement is contageous.

Great report bro! Even better fish! I'm sure glad our wild goose chase for lymans paid off big time. I can't wait to get up there.

Glad that you guys had a great trip! Pyramid something else, isn't it? ;)

Use a 3/0 siwash with a 4" Lyman. The nice thing about the single hook setup is that the fish will keep striking the lure until they get hooked.

Sounds like a great day at pyramid. Last time I was there in Dec. we caught 35 fish in about 8 hrs but nothing was the size of the the ones you guys caught. Where can i get some of those Lyman lures?

Unbelievable! Got a great crash course in one day, got to see the good and the bad, but mostly good :)
I think STH would agree it's better than Disneyland! ::)

Thanks for the report. Gotta love that lake ! One of my favorites. The weather and water looks nice and calm. No wind is a good thing on that lake.
