I just returned from Amador great weather but bad fishing. I don't know if it's me or the lake. Had alot of strikes but just couldn't find the fish. :'( I talked with some other boats and they only had a couple in the boat. The bank fishing even looked slow. I have to take a friend out tomorrow any sugestion where to go. I can't handle skunked twice. I didn't see any other snifers on the lake. I don't have a radio. I think I'll use some dupont spinners next time.

Great weather at Amador, fishing wasnt too bad either. Got there about 10:00 AM, fished off campground side, banking( naturally).Used orange p/b for a while, no bites at all.Around 11:00 AM switched to a crawler/bobber combo and started catching some fish.Caught 4 within 25 minutes, then it went dead for a long time, left the lake around 1:50 PM......All fish were caught in 4-5 feet of water, about 30 feet out.
4 fish totalled little over 8.5lb.

Overall not a bad day. *On the way in I thought I was driving up to IVR, road is getting to be really bad, and as much as they charge you to fish there, they outta be able to fix some of the biggest potholes.

No I think he ment 4 - 5 feet down under the bobber 30 feet from shore.
That's exactly what I meant. As I was standing there on the bank, I was casting my line out about 30 feet, and bobber stopper was set at about 4-5 feet :)

JW and I hit the lake at 8 running on flatlander time. Started the day with a double, we worked hard to put 7 more in the boat. One was a dink so it still swims in amador..take home 8 all between 3 and 4 pounds. JW will post pics later.

Fill in the pot holes??? *Heck no! *I caught my biggest bluegill outta one after the last rain!

I got in the water about 11:30am and spent all afternoon getting five trout. *The smallest I kept only because he swallowed my only fire tiger grub. *I cut the line figuring I'd get it back when I cleaned him. *But later I found I didn't properly fasten the catch on the stringer loop and the fish had vanished! *Oh well, I got a 2 1/2 lb largemouth to take it's place. *Four others were trout from 2 1/2 to close to 5lb ... I gotta get a scale. *This is my biggest Amador cutbow yet. *The two 3lbers I got both fought like native stream trout. *Lots of jumps, head shakes, and strong runs.

The big guy came on a flourescent orange grub as did one 3lber. *The other 3lber and a 2 1/2 lber took a black wooly bugger as did the bass. *I never found a "honey hole." *It took a lot of trolling to get my five.

Just after I'd caught my last fish, the bass, and the very back end of Rock Creek arm my motor quit. *I paddled about half way back to the ramp and then I hitched a ride. *THANK HEAVEN for GOOD Sniffers and channel 69. *JW and Partner THANKS AGAIN!

Nice pic of the tow in Yak .You might look at the Xtools scale its a floating lip griper since your so close to the water(just in case you drop it like Marine47 is prone to do).
Rev to bad about the skunk I've been there on that lake :-/better luck next time.

Hard work but good work Yak! :)
Are you top line trolling that wooly bugger and is it by itself out there or did you give it some extra oompf? :-?
Ever look into those hobie kyaks they got out now? Peddle powered and you could probably set up all your stuff on there. That way your battery goes out you can make like Fred Flintstone and Yabba Dabba Doo !! :P

Heading up to the lake in the morning, Safeway is having a tournament for their employees. Never fished Amador before, sounds like I better take some rain gear along.

Great reports everyone, sorry to hear that you didnt do so well Rev. just out of curiousity, did you follow the tips I gave you the last time I met you up there?
The fishing is a little hard, but obviously they are quite catchable, just not the forty fish days we are all wanting.
I will be up there on sunday, at least I hope to be, just not quite certain yet, hope to see some of you up there if I do.
Yak, they gave you a free ride and didnt even drive you into the docks? what kind of friends are they anyways ;D

I don't have much to add from what Partner and Yak said about the boat fishing. *It was slow, picked up and slow again. *The double we picked up right off the bat was alot of fun and we picked up a few others in Paddlemans cove and across from there. *We had a great day yacking on the radio. *I gotta say the best part of my day other than catching the fish we caught was watching Fishbrain AKA Speedy *;) cruise by. *It was like having a stealth pirate cruiser coming up on you with the skull flag waving. *;D ;D *I hope the fishing picks up for the average joe fisherman(woman), we did not do to bad but I think we could have done better if we decided to concetrate on the areas we did hook up rather than keep searching.

Freon - Yak decided to take the rope when we pulled in to the dock area...way before we actually got to the docks. *Smart man Yak *;) * I would'nt dare think of doing something like that........well........maybe * ::)

Dennis - Tried out the pole. *I actually like it very much. *Worked great and I'll use it again, after I get the right swivel on my line *;D

Now for some pics. *I did'nt get pics of the trout. *We arrived home late and my uncle came and took them right out of the boat. *

Irish and ?

Yak with his nice stringer and a real nice looking bass

Yeah while being towed I "flashed" on the realization I was helpless and being strung along in the hands of yet another woman ... *Whew ... this lovely lady not only saved me from sore shoulder muscles but also left what little remains of my finances intact. *WHADDA WOMAN!

Thanks jwilson for the photos too ... but I just had to use Photoshop to get a little closer look at the fish.

Turns out the trouble with my yak's motor was the motor ... bit the dust! *BUT, I've got a spare.

It's ancient history now, but still, I just got to show off my bass and BIG cutbow.
