Fished Amador with my neighbor and along side of Hoghunter with Paddleman. The day started slow but we (actually hoghunter) found one section of bank where it was just sizzling hot. I think Hoghunter said he put 8 fish in the boat in 35 minutes. Well I'll let him tell the rest of his story. For my part we put 18 in the net and took out 10. Gave 4 away at the cleaning station to some who didn't do as well. My neighbor doesn't take them anyway. So I guess I just gave away his fish. ;) Biggest we had was between 4 and 5 lbs. Hoghunter has pics.

Glad to hear you were able to locate the trout. There are afew spots that get overlooked by most of the boats but sounds like you had a great day.

Numbers and size way to go Dennis :) I get that feeling that HH3 is going to have some huge numbers ;)

Dennis was right. We had to find them today but once we did it was "lights out". Paddleman and I nailed 15 in a little over an 90 minutes. It was an absolutely fire drill. On our first pass through we had all 4 poles going at once. (Managed to land 3 of them) . *

In all we managed to boat 22, with 4 over 4lbs.
I'm leave the details for Chris and try to post some pictures that don't get cut off.

Here's Paddleman with a nice 4 pounder

I fought off the urge to go today and worked outside instead ... well some work and some loading stuff for tomorrow! *Suuuure be nice to know where that sweet spot is!!!! *And what the hot setup was today.

DANG HH3 and Paddleman that's the nicest stringer yet!

Anyone fishing the NEW Power Bait "Blade Dancer?" *The pack I got has four fancy Fire Tiger transluscent minnow type things with foil inside and real looking eyes that are supposed to be attached to spoon/blade thing that's kind of like the "lip" on a Rapala. *The hook, about a heavy duty size #2 is built-in to the spoon thing. *Hummm, just occurred to my to take a pic of 'em. *Whaddaya think?

This image is 475 pixels wide. *Someone tested and found that is the MAX size without cutoff in the thread window. *For pics that do seem to be cutoff on the right side you can see more of them if you do a "REPLY" to the thread then if you don't want to post just cancel or go back.

Boy, now HH3 is a master fisherman and photographer! Great camera work. It was hot for me also most of the day. I ended up boating 14 and keeping 4 big boys. The 4 keepers were all around 4 pounds. Jackson was good all over the place. Got one double entering jackson arm from doney and tons of other one hit and quit bites. It was good to see HH3, Dennis, Paddleman, n2trout out there doing well. Great day on the water.

Here is my recap.

Incredible!

It has to be one of the hottest hour of fishing for me ever.

I knew we would find them, just took awhile. *Pretty slow in the early morning. Then from 10:30 to 11:45, lites out. Just crazy.

11:45 to 1:00 still good but not blazing. *

1:00 to 3:00 fair.

Did not make a difference what you had out when it was hot. *Did not even make it out all the way on the pull outs before they smacked it. *Take your pick, orange, white, pink, pearl, black. They were hitting them all.

Heck, I felt like a race horse out there after the fire works. *Worked up a lather netting, hooking, grabbing rods, baiting up, get them out again. Always fun to try to keep lines straight when you have three fish on. *Half the fish we caught were from doubles. Sometimes when we were working the double hook ups another rod would get smacked. Several high fives going on, smiles, laughing, shaking our heads.

This I am sure will go down in my books as just one of those days you will never forget and will come up around the camp fire in years to come.

Thank you Amador Master Guru HH3. You are truly the man. *I think this guy is part blood hound. *He sure can sniff out the path to success on this lake.

Just and unbelievable day the way it went down.

One more thing.

SJShark, you need to have that photo framed. That is one great action shot of you working that fish. Excellent. Net in hand, fish jumping, rod bent over double. Just can not time it any better.

Not to often do you get a look at yourself in your boat with all that going on.

Great stuff.

Great job guys. I'm glad Hoghunter brought you back to the barn for some rest Paddleman. That sounds like the best report of firedrill this year.

What happened to pictures of Dennis? HH3 were you just to busy with fish-on. :o I just would love to get out but this dam firefighter job and taking care of to do list cramps my fishing. Oh well tomorrow it's overtime, I hope to see a day next week to fish. 8-)

Well somebody had to turn the light switch on. I guess it's fitting that the Amador "guides" did it. Hope I can have half as good a report on Sunday.

First time on Amador yesterday...met and got tips from some of the best! [smiley=worthy.gif] *A big thanks to SJShark, HH3, Paddleman, and Dennis!

*Gave 4 away at the cleaning station to some who didn't do as well.
[smiley=dankk2.gif] My neighbor Tex greatly appreciated your kindness Dennis.

When we caught up with HH3, he was working one of their few singles:

We worked mostly with grubs but had one hit a crawler so hard it snapped the 6 lb leader! *Here's a 3 1/2 to 4 lb'er that the pros missed:

It was a great first time on Amador! *[smiley=angling.gif]

The skies parted and sun shined down as the fish gods once again took mercy upon our fisherman souls. ;D
What a day on the lake. It was great to see sniffers doing so well again. It was even better to meet another sniffer in person. Thanks for the fire tiger grubs Sjsharks. *:)
I took my sweet time launching and probably wasnít on the water until 7:45.
I usually head for the Jackson creek area right away but decided to try a different spot. I wasnít even trolling for 10 minutes and Bam! Fish on!
Nice 4 to 5 lber ripped my orange rapala. I was trolling my new downrigger at 5ft. with fire tiger grub and when I hit the retrieve button to get rigger out of way it triggered a double hook up. Thing was a monster and spooled me for half my line before it broke.
I switched over to white grub with green power egg head a little later and the bite picked up again. I hooked up with everything top lining except that monster but that was at a minimal depth too. I didnít come off the lake until 5pm. Sure did note a lot of surface action from the fish this trip. Great trip and I canít wait to get out there again! :P

p.s. Check out the smaller of my fish. I donít think it was a amador tank fish.
It had more fins(didnít have that one short front side fin), it was darker like a brown and had some nice dark black spots, with a beautiful pink stripe down the middle. Sure wish I would have taken a better pic ::)

Nice job n2trout. That last fish has a large mouth different from the top two. What was the first area you did start trolling and lost that big one?

could you try and resize that last photo?

Just for clarrification, is everyone having more success with the 2 inch grubs or the 3 inchers. I need to stock up on some more colors. I am getting the feeling that when the bite is hot it does not matter which size. Last time out for me the 2inchers were catching the bigger fish.

Dennis

2" grubs tend to work better most of the time. I've caught with both but the Guru's are all using 2" grubs. Over the past few weeks I have noticed a better success rate with the smaller grubs.

SalmoClarki
03-23-2006, 05:02 PM
It seems the 2" grub is better right now, i did get a bunch of hook ups on the 3" yesterday too though.
