View Full Version : Folsom Fest 2007

Mark you calendar now for Presidents Day Monday February 19, 2007.

There were so many Sniffers out there last Monday, and everyone seemed to be doing well. Even Allfish and Holly got into fish (JK)!

My thought is to meet at the Hobie Ramp (Browns Ravine low water ramp currently in use) after a morning of fishing. I will have to find out if we can use BBQ's in the parking lot, everyone can bring their own sausages or perhaps some foil to cook up the mornings catch.

Mickey says he wants to be notified two weeks in advance. Apparently 52 weeks does not work for him. I will have the entire registry at the the Fishsniffer boards send him a PM. That should do the trick.

It would be fun to have some sort of contest for the biggest trout, and the biggest king, (dare I say kokanee?). Green fish are excluded unless someone wants to spearhead that program.

Mark your calendar, tell your boss, lie if you have to but plan to be there.

It's a little to soon to commit, :P heck I don't even know where I'm fishing next week ;D ;D

Even Allfish and Holly got into fish (JK)!

My catch rates, although never high at Folsom, increase dramatically when I'm not in your boat! ;)

The fest sounds like a good idea! Is Beals Point Camp open that time of year in case some out of towners decide to come?

Green Carp and kitty fish? Maybe you can offer to get one of those started.

Why wait until next year?. With the good weather comming soon, the bite will get better and the fish bigger. We can save next year for the Sniffer Kokanee fest. :) I like the BBQ idea but remember, the law says no brews at the lake. ??? You have to stay in your boat to be leagal. ;D

We could always get a permit for the beverages in question.
We had a company party there last year and it was sure fun watching all the rangers show up to see why we had booze LOL

Green Carp and kitty fish? *Maybe you can offer to get one of those started. *

Well trout are always the weak fish and die easily :P Plus, Bass and Catfish are much bigger ;D ;)

Maybe they should be included.Start one on the other board.More the merrier! But, In green carp & kitty fish bracket.By the way trout stay alive all day in my live well. ;) Oh one more thing ,I haven't seen any 28 lb bass lately? ;D

02-26-2006, 05:36 PM
By the way trout stay alive all day in my live well.

Sorry, but you're breaking the law if you do that Captain.

02-26-2006, 05:46 PM
It's my understanding that the fish can't be transported from the water where taken. The use of a live well on the body of water would not be a violation. However once the boat left the launch ramp the fish would have to be dead.

1.63. Movement of Live Fish.
Except as provided in sections 4.00 through
4.30 and 230, live fin fish taken under the
authority of a sport fishing license may not be
transported alive from the water where taken.

Note: 4.00 through 4.30 pertains to bait fish and 230 spearfishing.

I'm pretty sure Doc is right on the money about the trout/salmon look in the special regs

02-26-2006, 05:52 PM
Ok, I just sent Doc a PM on that. My fish are cleaned at a cleaning station or before hiting the shore. The main reason I keep rainbows alive in the well is,what if I end up with only 1 keeper fish at the end of the day? I can throw him back, knowing he's alive & well. Is that legal? I'll check the regs too. *Thanks Guys. I think your talking about bait fish? But I don't use trout as bait.

02-26-2006, 05:55 PM
Enough Hijacking!! ;) I'll do some homework.

02-26-2006, 06:13 PM
The rule applies only to trout. You can't keep them alive in any container or attached to a boat.

Even at Folsom. See, no hijack. ;)

;) Gotta love the boards.Learning everyday. ;D
