That's pretty cool. Way easy. Boiling water, ice cold water and a pair of scissors.

Anybody know if that method would work on other varieties of clams , and are razor clams tough to clean as compared to other clams ?

Razor clams are easy to clean, if you use the hot/cold water technique. You might be able to clean cockles with this technique, but I doubt it because they have a thicker shell and you might slightly "cook" the clam when you tried to open it. With such clams, simply use an oyster knife, or some similar implement, and sever the muscles that open & close the clam shell.
