I fished by myself Fri. only caught six fish all day, nothing till after 2:00 then it picked up. The last two were 8 pounders. One on a F 18 rapala and the other on a BL/GLD F 13 Rapala. Chris showed up to fish with me sat.and sun. It snowed all day sat, and the fishing was slow all day I think we ended up with maybe 6-7 for the day. It snowed most of the night and in the morning it had turned to a steady pouring rain with gusting wind. I kept trying to go back to sleep until about 8:00 when Tim and Bruce drove through and I knew they would never let us live it down if we just packed up and headed home. By 8:30 we were on the water, by 8:45 it felt like we had been in the water. We never got a chance to talk to them though, we passed a couple times and yelled to each other but with the rain, couldn't make out a word. We fished till about 3:00 for two browns each, The largest was a 7 pound hookjaw. L4T

Good job John. This is a perfect example of why you guys catch the big fish.

Crazy yes, Those are some beautiful fish guys, Great job.

The first picture is surrealistic, John - That brown held against that deep blue background is a picture hard to forget. And the third picture - You; the elements; and the grin makes a statement - Nice photography. Thanks 8)

Frank - I think that's a grimace and not a grin.

John - WIND.....RAIN......SNOW...... geeze......you guys are the pioneering type, or like the title says, crazy.
Nice to see that you were rewarded for your efforts though. Wouldn't expect anything less. ;D

Nice fish and pics. It sure beat what I did this weekend.

Brown-trout guys only show teeth for one of two reasons FS: There's the junkyard dog look with teeth bared saying, "...get the hell out of my fishing hole." And then there is the, "I just caught a really nice brown," picture of pure joy... besides, brown-trout fishermen have no feelings left in their extremities so this picture of Live4trout is one of pure happiness. 8)

Gee another good weekend John, and I was sitting and watching it rain and saying "it sure is a lousy day for fishing" ::) Thanks for showing me how lazy I am ;D Great pictures, where's the one of Cris? ;)

Beautiful fish John,
The hardcore fisherman catch the fish.
Maybe I missed a previous post, what lake were you fishing?

12-19-2005, 07:23 AM
Got to hand to you guys. We get want you work for and you certainly earned success especially braving those conditions. Congratulations, those are the memories that last forever.

12-19-2005, 08:44 AM
All I can say is you guys are nuts. ::)
At least I had the top up, the sides on, and the heater blastin. Heck as soon as I ran out of propane, I was out the door.

Every time we saw you guys we just looked at each other and laughed. ;D ;D you both looked like a couple of drowned rats but it didn't even slow you down.

Yesterday was the worst conditons I've fished in a long time, and yes we would have given you the "You big sissies" if you didn't come out and play. ;D ;D

Congrats to you both on another great trip. Only 2 8's and a 7 ??? You must be losing your touch. 8)

Frank - Thanks for your personal veiws and instruction on the tenacity of Brown Trout fishermen. I can truly appreciate the endevors that the likes of these fellow fishermen go to. They are to be commended for what they will endure in the quest for a 10lb. plus fish. Ten and twenty years ago when I had youth and health in my favour, I wouldn't give it a second thought to do the same thing.
I was suppossed to be there on Sunday too! The boat was ready, I was ready, but at my age WIND, RAIN, AND SNOW are not a part of my fishing program. Being retired does jade me some. I have the advantage of where, when and under what conditions I will chase Browns or any other species. I guess I'm an old softy. I don't mind fishing in snow but wind and rain I won't do. ;)

Tim - I know I did.......My boat was sitting on the pad pumping water all day long. ;D ;D

12-19-2005, 11:56 AM
Dang Dale, haven't you got that boat a cover yet? ;D have you thought of a steel carport? ;)

12-19-2005, 12:07 PM

Very nice..

Man, that third picture looks like a small lake up the hill from me!!!

But I don't think my lake would have as much water as in your picture....

12-19-2005, 06:43 PM

L4T, great pics and great fish, you obviously have a serious dedication to catching trophy browns. I would love to catch any one of those fish, but I also like feeling all of my extremities ;D
How long did it take to thaw out or are you still working on that one?

12-19-2005, 08:47 PM
I didn't finally get warm until I went to bed last night . the first thing I did was go to cabelas. com and look for some new rain gear and tonight I painted up three more lures ;)I told mama I guess I will have wait until next year to break the ten pound barrier and she said why it isn't the 31st yet ? gotta love that woman ;D
