Conner and I were able to sneak away for three days of fishing Friday thru Sunday. It turned out to be a great trip. We were trolling early Sat. morning when Conner hollered at me that he was hung on the bottom at the same time my rod started bouncing with a fish. I told conner just loosen the drag and we would take care of his as soon as I landed my fish, about that time I looked over and saw Conners rod bouncing and I hollered no Conner tighten that drag you have a fish also. Conners fish immediately came to the surface and I knew it was a trophy so I put my rod in the holder and helped conner after 6 or 8 good runs I was able to net the fish. The fish measured 30 1/2" and was 13# 8 oz.

Dam kids. ;D Every time I think I'm hung up on the bottom I usually am. I've been looking for a brown that big for 50 years and hate it when I pull up to a dock and see a kid holding a fish as big as he is -- Way to go Conner and good job Dad. I love the look on his face, too: he's either freezing his butt off or still in shock. ;)

I know this is an old thread and some how the pictures have vanished, but I picked Conner's fish up from the taxidermist today and would have to say it is ane of the best brown mounts I have yet to see. The fish was mounted by Harold Tweedles @ Wildlife Artistry in West Sacramento. The only problem I have now is finding a place to hide it til Christmas as it will be his Christmas present. I will try to post pictures of the mount in the next day or so.
