Decided to hit the bay before the festivities started. *My buddie said lets go. *Launched at 7:30 out of lock lomand with live shinners and headed to paradise. *A little bumpy for a 15 ft'er and I figured we'd be blown off by 10. Normally the drift is paralle to shore but the wind was stronger than the tide and was blowing us off shore. *Started out in 15ft and let the wind push us out. *At around 20ft we started getting taps. *Boated two hali. *both 23.5" *Wind picked up so we headed to the other side of the richmond bridge. *Droped near the west side in 20ft water. *With 8oz weight my line was just going out at 45 degree angle and couldn't hit bottom. *I said to larry we need more weight because it's rippen here. *My gps posted 2mph? Started reeling in. *Fish on!! Stripper? *Shark? *Ray? *Nope, 26" Hali. *Must have hit'em in 4 ft of water. *We got one more after that and headed in to be home by 1pm.
