View Full Version : Buoy33 report TI trolling success

06-29-2008, 05:50 PM
With the lack of live bait in Berkeley I decided to go back to trolling rather than make the long run over to SF. I have to say I prefer to troll anyway, but will do live bait if it seems more productive. Today we hit the 30 ft line off of T. I. with my cousin Bob, and friends James and Rich (who I met today). Great bunch a guys, all experienced anglers, although Rich had never caught a halibut or a legal striper and had not done much bay fishing. I always love it when we get the opportunity to introduce someone to a new fishery. James started it off with the first one and the bite continued with a steady pick throughout the day.The highlight of the day was seeing Rich land a decent halibut and striper both firsts for him. The finally tally for the day was 6 halibut and one striper. With at least 5 shakers and one nice fish that I farmed at the boat. It was great to get back on the water after taking last weekend off to go to San Diego to visit my son at college. Two weeks ago we caught four on live bait in the same area, so it was nice to see that they were still around.

Pictures will be up shortly on my site www.buoy33.com under Ron's Fish Rag.

good job fellas, and that looks like a nice boat, not to sound stupid but what do you goys mean when you say farmed one?I've never heard that expression. just wondering

SJ, farmed means that we lost one ;)

Very nice looking fish box men! Seems like Rich is catching fish everywhere! ;)

I believe farmed means something like, not playing the fish & just pulling & reeling. Most of the time the fish gets off.
