The short story: Fished from 0630 to 0930 and caught 1 smallmouth, 1 largemouth, 2 rainbows, and 1 king salmon. Isn't that a grand slam?

The long story: SideJump, his son, my son and I set out to find the bigger kings, fast trolling speedy shiners and Tasmanian Devils and jerk baits. We trolled out in front of Browns Ravine, then up the S. Fork. First fish was a smallmouth caught near that rock hump that is near the mouth of the S. Fork, but is still under water. Second fish was a 14 inch bow, caught on a topline. Third fish, a largemouth on the downrigger. Fourth fish was another trout, but check out this one! This is one of the best trout I have seen come out of Folsom, nice job SideJump and SideJump Jr!

Fifth and final fish was one of those small kings, came in at 51' on the DR. I think I dragged him around for a while, because when we tried to revive him he just stayed belly up.

Both bass were sent back with directions to find us next time.

The trout and the little salmon are going on the smoker tommorow, then my first try at canning.

We were off the water at 0930, headed for the salmon festival. On Folsom we only saw one flea, and about 6 other boats fishing, most of them were bass guys.

Great report Empire! Thanks for taking the time. That is by far one of the best rainbows I`ve seen come from Folsom in a while. Although I think your a catfish short of a slam ;D.

Empire, I looked for you at Folsom today and called you on the radio. You were probably too busy netting that rainbow. Fished with Big D today. We caught and released 5 small salmon in the 12 inch range. Not a *hot bite for us today, like last week was. We got on the water before sunlight and the water was pretty rough. After sunrise everything settled down. We caught all of our fish on needle fish at 60 and 70 feet.

I did holler a couple of times on the VHF channels 68, 69 and 71. I left it on scan the rest of the time, but did not hear a peep.

The water was a bit choppy in the AM, which I think helped the surface bite for those trout.

Great report, but I have one silly question.

What is a flea? A jet skier? Kayaker?

Thanks.

Empire if your interested I have a great recipe for canned trout. It comes out almost like tuna fish. My grandparents gave it to me when they use to be camp hosts at Union valley. They use to fish every morning but they were in posseion of to many fish so they had to find a way to process them so they were no longer in posession of more than 10 fish.

I wish this thread would die already.

In baseball, a grand slam brings 4 runs in. 4 different fish in one body of water is a grand slam.

I guess it could also be a full house, I had 5 keepable fish.

Is a hat trick 4 goals or 3?

Its 3 goals.
