Fished Gold Lake last Sat. Arrived 6am, saw nobody fishing. Not a good sign. Fish finder didn't work, dead batteries. Started by using flashers with night crawlers on 2 rods, J plug on the other.
Caught on Mack, 23inches on the worm setup. A nice fish. Left about 11am.

I forgot to mention, when we were loading up the boat to leave, I was attacked by some yellow jackets or meat bees. Two stings just below my left eye. Don't know if they were on the underside of my trailer or just by the dock. Be carefull out there!

I was just there for the day since I live in Quincy. Gold Lake is in the Lakes Basin area. It's north of Truckee about 45 miles off of Hwy89. The campgrounds near the boat launch looked pretty full. We started out fishing just outside the boat ramp in the deep water north of the island. No luck there. Then we went past the two islands towards the back end of the lake and that's where we caught the Mack. Then we tried jigging with buzz bombs and didn't have any luck. It was tough with out the electronics.

From the West side take Hwy 49 past Sierra City, turn left at Bassetts on to Gold Lake Rd.

If this is your favorite lake, venture out into the Lakes Basin area. There are many small lakes in the area with wild fish any little pressure. This area is one of my favorites also. If you want some specifics, pm me.
