Mrs Brutus, Trent and I headed out late yesterday (Mon 16th ) I snuck outa work early we got there about
1230. Got to the spot around 1300. Skunked we were! 1st time since last Nov. Tammy lost 1 right at the bank and I had a couple bites and that was it. We left around 1700. It was a beautiful day though. We can confirm everything youall been hearing. Water is high, cold and muddy still. The highest I've seen the lake in a long time. Also for all you fellow bankers: Its that time a year. TICKS are out in full force. (We must of pulled 20 off Trent , and thats with preventive drops. ) So prepare accordingly .

Good luck to all Brutus

Don't worry you weren't the only ones to get skunked... I got there at about 12pm after all the taking care of my CF's at the DMV. My brother and I started out in the south end and went out to Hitch Hatchy, trolling and soaking bait. Not even a bite. But it was a great day to be out, first time out on my toon at Del Valle.

P.S. nice pics

Brutus, sorry for the skunked day of fishing at DV. But I have confidence in you that your next fishing adventure will be productive:swimmingfish:. I like how you were able to get off of work early, I wish I could do that at my job... Thanks for sharing the report and pics. FISH ON:grin:!!!

I was up there Tuesday and went to my spot at the tip of the peninsula near the arroyo. There was a flotilla of boats out there, at least twelve in a small area near the mouth of the stream. I had two big bites I missed as I was wading tossing lures during the bites and I didn't want to race back and scare all the fish. I'm husky so I make the ground vibrate when I move.

I would like to call out to the older Asian gentleman who with his buddy puts out six poles and poaches trout tossing them into the weeds. Stop doing that scofflaw.
I will take a picture of you and post it here for all to see.

And the report was I got skunked too. Twice in a row at DV.

Forget the warning. If you see them and have the camera, snap the pic. Call the poaching hotline as well. You never know, maybe a warden is in the area.

I agree, call DFG, Livermore P.D ( they have the authority to enforce Fish and Game laws) or poachers hotline, or even let the staff at Del Valle know. Take video, snap pictures write down plates and car descriptions. I have no SYMPATHY for poachers, and I'll do whatever it takes by any means necessary, to get ANY poacher caught. Sorry for the rant, I hate poachers with a passion.

+1 If I see em I'll do my best to ruin their day!

did you also try spoons and rapalas? another thing that gets trout that wont take anything is homemade spinners.
