Took My niece to Ralphine in Santa Rosa for the kids fishing derby at 8;30 and it was packed. Fished along the fence and left after an hour. The lake was planted again today but we only saw 5 fish on the board. A lot of older kids in the 30-40 years of age fishing.
Decided to head to Bon Tempe (11:30) and when we were parking a Mt. Tam law enforcement told us that there were fish being caught in the grassy area near the creek leading from Lagunitas. 5 minutes later a little fish on.
After an hour with no more bites I asked my niece if she wanted to leave but she just wanted to move spots. Fished in power lines area and saw a guy with his girlfriend lose a few, keep 1 and release a few.
We finally got our first bite moments after I put on a longer leader of 3-4 feet. A nicer fish at about 12 inches. Nothing for another hour until we moved 20 yards closer to the dam and then fish on again. Left an hour later with 3 fish. Alll fish came on brown pw with lime green pe with chartruese berkely gulp egg.
What a beautiful day and awesome to see how happy my niece was to catch fish and tell me "this was so much fun".
Later in the day when we were about to leave we took 1 load of stuff to the car and on the way back I ran into the Sherriff who asked me if those were my poles in the water. When I said yes he asked me for my fishing liscense and when he saw my name he asked if I knew someone who happened to be my brother. I thought cool I am okay then he asked for my driver's liscense and I was thinking oh no, not good. When he saw the picture he said "okay you look like your brother" and that I could not leave my poles unattended and was my niece casting 1 of the poles. I should him my 2 pole stamp and I told him I usually casted both but she did all the dirty work. I apologized and he sent us on out way. That would have been my first fishing ticket for something I didn't think was a big deal since I was only about 40 yards away. Thanks to the sherriff it remained a nice day. A little windy but another highlight was when I asked my niece if we should release 1 of the smaller ones and she told me "we should keep every fish we catch." Ended up being a bleeder but I think I have created a monster.

Alyssa and I thought she was done with fishing since I was late one day and she told me she didn't like fishing anymore. But now she is back and casting out, setting the hook and ready to put in the time. Diehard status!

Absolutely adorable little girl. Way to go GN. Love to see the kids catching fish. All you need now is to get her a Raider t-shirt.
