Drove down 395 to Easter brunch at the Topaz Lodge with Mrs. Compassion at the wheel. After filling ourselves to near bursting decided to take the long way home. :) With the opener less than 3 weeks off decided to look at a few spots. The West Walker is running higher than it's winter low. It was clear and if it remains at this level should be fishable on the opener. The Little Walker was high and slightly off color but looked in good shape. Continuing south thought about going to Twin Lakes but they were socked in. Stopped in Bridgeport and was surprised to Ken's open. Asked the guy there about some of the spots. He said that Twin Lakes should be good. They stock some real nice trout there after the season closed. Bridgeport Res. should be off the hook. The East Walker has slowed. Turned east out of town past Bridgeport Res. The lake seemed higher than last year at this time. The lake was 70% free of ice with what was left was rotting in the dam area. Headed back home via Sweetwater Pass, Wellington and Topaz Estates. Nice day but windy.

The runoff is yet to begin. In one month Bridgeport should be near full and the W. Walker an unfishable chocolate mess. There is lots of snow in the mountains.

Congrats Crestliner. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I fished trolled Topaz with Jetspray on the 27th and had an excellent day. The weather was incredable. I haven't fished in over a week so I'm getting withdrawls. Can only blame the weather. Perhaps I'll find someplace wednesday.

Bridgeport was 40% covered by ice in the dam area. It was rotten and should be gone by the end of this week. Any ice at Twin should be gone by the opener. Won't be able to fish Silver, Caples, Red until may.
