Fished with my buddy Tom, Captain Mike and Lando today out of Moss towards the point off Monterey. Started outside the party boats and trolled into the bay at around 7 a.m. First bite I began reeling then the line started to scream and two other poles began humming. I said "crab pot" since we were pretty close to the buouy and the line was peeling like nobody's business. Tom threw it into neutral and I continued reeling and thank God it was fish. It was pretty amazing I thought for sure we had the crab line. Got the first fish in and 1 other of the 3 bites. Double to start out the day. 1 on the steel and 1 on the braid. Made a quick turn and had another double down in the mud. If you can't get 300 ft down don't even go out it won't be worth your while. Both of these fish popped off, but 15 minutes later Lando reeled in a descent 10 pounder.

Got another double 20 minutes later one on the braid on hoochie with dodger and 1 one the steel with a small silver spoon I had just put on. A lot of boats out there today and it seems some people don't know to go port to port if a boat is heading towards you. Got #6 about 30 minutes lates on the braid again. Then 10 minutes later I reeled #7 in.

15 minutes after that Captain Mike finished the day with our biggest about 14 lbs.

Good day on the bay with good people. There was a Tunabite tournament that we were in but unfortunately we did not win. I didn't really care though since it was such a nice day and we all went home with fish.

The reason my buddy did so well is because we only use braid with heavy balls or steel. This gets our line down deep at a pretty straight tact. Will be back tomorrow monitoring 11. Another reason he does so well is he is one hell of a fisherman but don't tell him I said that because it will go to his head.

Heading into the Stacks

Great job out there G Nappers, you're killing them out there! Is there a reason you chose the point off of Monterey instead of Soquel hole?

Great report!

When you say port to port, meaning each boater stay on the right lane just like driving?so it'll be passenger side to passenger side?

Port to port when 2 boats are heading at each other. And don't cut within 100 yards of the back end of a boat out there. The boat is at one point and the lines are way back. If a boat cuts in front of you put it into neutral then in gear, in neutral, then in gear. We caught 6 today and lost at least 6 more. So deep that we had plenty of time to mess things up. Sometimes they just come off, most of the time the angler messes things up. My buddy uses 50 braid which cuts throught the water a lot straighter then mono. On the other 2 rods is steel. Soquel is still producing fish, we just wanted to get away from the fleet and fish next to the other fleet. A buddy boat was in neutral netting a fish and a boat trolling banged into him and then kept going. That was so nice of the other boat. I hope the fish move up so it is not so much milarky out there. I think Kahn and Jim limited today.
