Well what can I say, This year was really awsome:smile:
Went to Twin Lakes for the opener and got into TONS of holdover rainbows and 1 Alper 2lbr:smile: I caught and released TONS opening day and kept the biggest 5. You guys should see how beautiful that country is right now.. SO beautiful!! On the second morning I hit up robinson creek and caught like 25 F&G bows then i went to the lake and was casting off the bank waiting for my dad to pick me up on the boat and nailed a 3.5lbr!! biggest fish our group caught on the lake of the whole weekend:action-smiley-035: .. Twin lakes couldnt get stocked for the opener but it had plenty of holdovers from last year.. The last day wasnt that good on the lake so we packed it up headed home.. On the way back we stopped at Markleevile and fished the West fork of the Carson River and to my surprise I caught a 4.5lbr!!!! I was shocked:eek2: haha Here's some pics guys

Markdashark19- Dude sounds like a plan thats been planned a month ago lol  yeah summertime will be perfect, planting them fattys has only began!

FISHIN_BUDDY- thanks man :o that trip was SO awsome!! you definently need to make plans! that lake is so fun for fishing:biggrin: the snow should be melted by the end of june.. this storm thats coming thru shouldnt help the snow melt:embarassed: cold weather can be fun but miserable at the same time. i slipped in the creek at 5:30am and let me tell you that was COLD! but all that catching took my mind off the coldness really fast haha

B-ran great opener, nice pics. Every year I go to Burney and only catch a few but this year my pop's went and he landed some descent trout so it made it worthwhile. Carson River, does it also go into Cali or did you guys make it to Nevada?

Very good. You got fish everywhere you went. The WC bow was indeed a fatty.

I used to typically wait until ebbetts or sonora passes opened before going over to the east side, but the last couple years ive started going over the carson on 88 to get over there earlier........Ive always enjoyed fishing Caples, and the Carson river( esp the East Fork) and now i really enjoy beginning a trip by working my way East, fishing Caples, possibly Red lake, then both West and East Carson, and ICR, before heading all the way over to the 395 corridor.....its a great way to fish a lot of very different waters, and both Alpine and Mono counties do a great job managing the fish resource.......A special thanks to Todd @ Carson River Resort outside of Markleeville, for his great job in Alpine county, and his willingness to share fishing info.

@ Erik......ive usually done well at Lower at the two points jutting out on either side of the Marina/boat launch area, or at the extreme upper end of lower twin, you turn down a little dirt road that heads south off the main road, its a public fishing access point among the housing tract. If i choose to boat fish at Twin, its usually at upper twin, because unless things have changed for this season, Mono Village on Upper twin has far less expensive boat rentals than the resort on Lower Twin......At upper Twin, at the upper end inside the gates of Mono Village, you can park and walk out on a jetty that encloses the marina, its often a pretty good spot for bankfishing..........While your there consider Robinson creek or Bridgeport Reservoir as well, both can be very productive.......Check in @ Ken's in B'port for the latest info when you get there, good luck

Gnappers- yeah markleeville is right by the border of cali/nevada in cali beautiful country:biggrin:

Thanks everyone.. It was my best opener yet, my second one ever too. Cant wait till caples is unfrozen and same with bear river res.

erikhajek- i was trolling for the first part of the morning but nothing.. water is so clear you canjust see the schools cruising so we casted spinners power worms and etc.. caught alot off the bank in front of the cabin too in cluding the 3.5.

iggybabble- nice info dude.. you are definently right about the boat rentals! and yes the 395 corridor is such a scenic route.. very beautiful country like i said. we took 88 mostly the whole way.
