Going to Pyramid Lake at the end of the week. Any recent returns with stories of valor and or plunder?

Well me and a good friend got a late start to pyramid this morning and didn't arrive until 1000 a.m. As we were driving up the road along the lake we noticied not alot of people out fishing today and was wondering if we had made a bad decision to drive up there and fish. Well we arrived at pelican beach to a very minimal crowd and started fishing in our usually spot after few hours I had caught a hen of about 22 inches and missed several others while my friend had broke a nice fish off and lost several more. Well we headed up to crosbys lodge for a late lunch around 230 and then back out to pelican. My freind landed him a nice trout in the slot at 21 inches wind started to pick up so we packed it up and drove around to windless bay. We hooked several nice fish then about the time I wanted to throw in the towel I got a nice hit. So I set the hook on the fish and off my line goes on my fly rod pretty soon im down into the backing and putting an lot of force behind a fish that didn't want to come in at all. After chasing him down the beach about 400 yards and 30 minutes later this is what I got.

Well we took him to crosbys in hope of getting my name on the wall but I missed it by 8 ounces http://www.imhooked.com/forumsyabb/Templates/Forum/default/angry.gif
But as it turned out he is the biggest fish of the week so far as of 630 this after noon. http://www.imhooked.com/forumsyabb/Templates/Forum/default/grin.gif
The fish measured out at 30 inches long with a 16.5 inch girth. I am looking at having a fiberglass reproduction made of him. So if anybody has any info on some one who does good work please pass on the info to me.
After we weighted him in we went back out to pelican until sunset and caught several more bucks and hens for a total of 12 trout between to two of us with another 12 or so lost. All in all a good day at pyramid lake. Here are some photos I took from block house beach as we were headed back home in the sunset.

Trout should still be on the north between Just south of Suttcliff to the the bay north of Warrior point. Troll 15 to 30 feet down. Try closer to the shore in 30 to 50 feet of water off Spider Point. The beach at Pelican. Off the Mushroom at Warrior or the beach to the north. Try off the Nets just to the south of the marina at Sutcliffe. Obey the closure rules there. Somes the fish congragate off shore in 100 to 200 feet of water. If they are there you should see other boats out there. Troll with 7/8 oz orange spoon with black dots. Apex, Lyman, Flatfish. Make sure that there is orange in the color mix.
Good Luck

There are four of us going this week to Pyramid from Wednesday through Saturday. We'll be camping at Pelican Beach. Gillcollector and I are Pyramid veterans and can help you out either by stopping by our camp or calling us on the radio while your'e on the water.

I have a 18' Fisher that's grey with a maroon bimni top and two antenna's with flags on them so I should be easy to find. We'll be there around noon on Wednesday. Stop by and we'll chat.

Looks like good weather and sounds like the fish are still biting! Can't wait to get my lines in the water!
