I have heard the only place on that lake to fish is up the creek a ways in the pools where trout stack up and bank anglers can't get to them...you will be fishing from shore but you will need a boat to get there.

Wrong board to post on about Amador. But this time of year, Amador will not be doing too good if your planning to go for trout.

Amador usually produces the biggest trout of the year from now until the end of May, after that the surface temperature rises and the trout go very deep. This year may well prove the exception to that rule because of the recent cool weather as well as the rain.
Amador this year has been very disappointing from what I have read in the posts, or lack thereof, the fishing just has not been what it was in previous years. I have not been out to Lake Amador since early last November. That being said, I have not been fishing since the first of January. I may just try Amador one last time just to say I did before summer. There has been one recent report that was very positive, maybe the lack of pressure has allowed the numbers of fish in the lake to rise to a level that would result in good catches.

I fish right in the first cove when u drive in. About 100 feet from the corner and cast about 20 feet out. 4 foot leader with a split shot.
