What's the best way to rig up those frozen chovies when trolling?

I have a good rig but with a spreader bar how far should you let it go back behind the boat?
Thanks for any reply,

I use a #4 treble hook, single hooks work fine. Hook it through the bottom of the mouth then through the bone in the head (this keeps the mouth closed when trolling), Pucci spreader 36 x18, bought at Longs, 30- 30# mono leader with a swivel at the spreader end and a treble hook on the other end, 5 oz torpedo weight (may need more if trolling fast). I troll about 1.5 mph. Let out enough line to allow the weight to bounce, not drag, along the bottom, distance depends on depth and trolling or drifting speed. Check your bait often. Good Luck!
