It was 55 years ago when two little second graders first met at El Repetto Grade School little knowing that a friendship would form that would last down the decades. Years of adventure and mis-adventure where normal childhood times of the 50s and 60s have grown to our own minds to the status of legends. After High School our paths have diverged but time and circumstance occasionally bring us back together and things are as they were.

Received an email on Tuesday that my old buddy Mike, who lives in the Boston area, was in San Diego visiting his mom and could he come up for a few days and perhaps do a little fishing. Told him to come on up. I might know a spot or two.

07/23/04 - Breakfast at Sharkey's at 0700 and down US 395 to our first stop at the Little Walker River. I was hoping to find some trout for Mike. And found them we did. We fished at the upper bridge using Panther Martins, Green Gulp and small plastics and managed 15 trout between us in a little more than an hour and a half. Next to check out the West Walker. We checked out Pickle Meadow and saw nothing happening. Heading back down stream we fished at the US 395 Bridge, Chris Flat and in the mid canyon. Nothing doing. After lunch at the Walker Burger and back to Minden for power naps. A Basque dinner at the JT Bar and then a long discussion on the meaning of life under the Nevada stars with the help of some Jameson Irish Whiskey and Corona Beer.

07/24/10 - Headed up 88 for our first stop at Hope Valley Resort to pick up Nighthawk. For him it was the choice of either a day full of spandex or a tour of some of the local fishing holes. Some choice. Up over Carson to the dam at Caples. Started casting iron and shortly Wolfden and his son Wolfcub1 arrived to join us. We were also joined by Cgagex3 who had been fishing on his toon at the spillway. We caught a couple of brookies at the dam with Kastmasters but the fishing was slow. Corey left to give Woods Lake a try and Mike, Tom, Todd, Nick and I left for Red. Red was really slow as well but we did manage a couple of small cutts. There was a brief look at the W. Carson River at the Hope Valley Campground the up to Blue Lakes. We found all the campgrounds full and the lakes crowded. We managed to get one bow at Upper Blue and that was it. Todd got this one and managed a hat trick for the day. Todd stayed up there check out the campgrounds and we headed back down. Tom was dropped off at the Hope Valley Resort and Mike and I went back to Minden. Todd it was nice seeing you and Nick again. Cory it was nice to see that you finally got a day with your toon up on 88. Let us know how you did at Woods. Tom it was finally nice to meet you. Loved your stories. Mike. It was wonderful to see you again. Have a safe trip back to Mass. We will fish again I know it. A wonderful two days.

That's why for the most part we fish it during the week, Red is usually busy from the dam. Gonna try Caples with the boat again this week........Jetspray
