Jetspray and I fished this lake we know just west of Carson Pass. We arrived shortly after 0700 with the sun just as the sun crested the peaks. Wanted to fish in the day use area or at the east corner of the dam but a stiff 20 to 30 MPH wind forced us to fish the west corner of the dam where there is a nice wind shadow. We fished for 3 hours using 1/4 oz gold lures and commercial trout dough bait of a greenish hue but managed only two fish between us. On the positive side I did manage to get trout number 200 for the year. Saw only one brave troller on the lake and there were few fishing off the shore. There was one industrious chipmunk that was bringing straw to a nest somewhere on the middle of the dam. He reminds us that the first snows may be no more than a month away. Stopped briefly at "Green" lake just east of the pass but it was much too windy to fish. Didn't see any fish die off. It was a wonderful day.

I fished that same lake yesterday with my brother-in-law and brother also of Minden, NV. We had a slow day of trolling. I caught one trout that looked alot like your number 200 on a broken back Rapala. My brother-in-law also caught one on a trolled powerbait cocktail. We did run into another fisherman at the boat ramp that had caught a few drifting near a creek on the east side of the lake using worms on the bottom with split shot. Kind of slow fishing which I chalked up to mid-summer doldrums. Also wind was from the south in morning which is not normal in my experience on this lake.

I agree, the lake is high for this time of year as well. I hope it helps it's recovery from the drawdown and repairs. The water was crystal clear and there were small fry working the shallows. Not a bunch of cruisers along the shore searching. Next year should be better......Jetspray
