View Full Version : Eagle Lake in the storm!

Fished Eagle Lake on Saturday and Sunday, 8/28-29, in the off season storm. It was a really tough bite both days. Saturday got blown off the lake by about 11:30. The Willie Raptor could take it, but we couldn't troll slow enough downwind, even just drifting we were doing 2.5 mph. We landed 3 fish each day, up to 19 1/2 inches and 2.5 lbs. Seps Grubs and Berkley grubs in motor oil and pumkinseed were the best. Only a couple on hardware -- silver/orange #1 Needlefish and black #1 Sockeye Slammer. We fished the west side by the Broccoli Tree and down to Wildcat point. Most were caught on top -- 6 feet down. Had one on Sunday that came at 35" down. The weather started clearing up Sunday afternoon as we were leaving, of course. I'm sure the bite will be good this week. Launching at Spalding is no problem.
Water temp was down to 63 degrees by Sunday morning

Thanks for the info. Way to go fish on bad days and score that's the way it should be.
Going up Friday for a week hope we have some good luck.:thumbsup:

Good job on hanging in there for those EL bows. Yeah, that wind up there comes up fast and furious. Thanks for the post.
