Went there on Monday during the eclipse, current was rippin' using 10oz on the boat, marked a lot of fish, few bites but no stick... Better in the sloughs, too much debris in the river. We were using ghost and eel... But I did get a report from my cousin, and he landed a keeper at pitts, probally at 31 a few hours ago

The launch from Sherman Island is the closest that I can think of. But hey what do I know, I'm not a boater.

The four closest, Arrowhead, Hogback, Vierras and Rio Vista are all close to the same distance on the water. Even though Arrowhead might be closer I would launch at the closest launch you could drive to, then putt over to Liberty Island.

Offthebank,
You need to go to Rio Vista to get to Liberty Island Road. An easy way is to take Highway 12 to Church Road. Go north on Church Road and west on Airport Road and then north on Liberty Island Road. The road will bring you up onto the levee. There are decent places to bank fish in this area for sturgeon. You won't be able to actually get to Liberty Island as it is across Cache Slough and the majority of the island is underwater. Good luck and let up know how you do...

We get to Shag Slough from behind Davis. Fish on whats left of the island
