1/23/2010 – Fished Lake Camanche solo. I launched at the north shore at 6:30 am and headed up to the river arm where the bite was pretty good until about 9:30 am. It got slow so I headed out to Hat Island to troll Rapalas from noon until about 1:00 pm. Only one fish so I headed back up the river for two more fish in the afternoon. Ended up with ten fish – kept the bleeders for the grill. The water was 51 degrees – it seemed like slow trolling was the ticket for me. All of the fish were small – between 12” and 16”...no holdovers today.

Lures: Orange Sep’s 2” grubs, brown Arctic Fox trolling flies, anchovies behind dodgers
Depths: Topline to 4’ deep on the downrigger
Speeds: 1.3 mph
Setbacks: 100’ to 165’
Locations: Big Had Island and up the river arm

Bass Jack: I have noticed the same thing. Now that the water has cooled. They want a slower lure. We had a pretty good bite with the grubs at 1.3, Then i changed to raps and trolled a little faster 2.2 and it got pretty slow. Right now, slow everything down. Congrats on the 10 to the boat. Hope to see you up there, soon!!!
