Fishing with Craig Wood today out of Moss Landing on his brand new Stabicraft, the boat you can always adventure with confidence. (Maiden salmon voyage) We ran out to 49/51 and worked that area for a while and worked out to 49/53 where we had a double at 120 feet on the wire (Spectra) One of those was to close to call so we let it go and boxed the estimate 8 pounder. Both on a UV FBR with Craig having his hot softie FBR™ UV up with tape. Boxed 2 more with heaviest est. at 12 pounds. on UV FBR™ at 120 feet. With 3 fish under out belts worked the area until 1PM for no go home fish.
The wind and the ocean were getting bigger as the day progressed and by 12:30 many boats were gone. We had no real time commitments so we continued to look for signs of life and finally at 1:00 wind send us on our way. A great day with a good friend fishing for salmon is hard to beat…PS lots of crab pots in the area advise not to troll uphill of the buoy as it easy to lose some gear….

Fantastic salmon day at Moss Landing…Thanks Craig Woods…

Good job, we shot across towards Monterey and it was blowin. Decided to pull them and move back towards Moss and my buddy hooked up on the way up. Would have kept but came off behind the boat. The wind had the boat just about spinning in circles. Headed back toward Moss and fished the edge of the canyon. Used strickly crippled anchovies behind watermelon/green hot spot flashers. Released a shaker and had a few short strikes before we picked up a descent 15 pounder. Also released some sand dabs while fishing 150 feet off the bottom. Thank you for the report, if it ain't blowin we will be out tomorrow. I think the fish are in small pockets and if you find the bait you should find some fish. Hopefully they will get into some big schools so we don't have to do so much searching. Nice to be eating fresh salmon again.

Good luck on your next outing….You bet salmon on the barbie has been the buzz word around my campfire this week…some relative showed up and were all happy..
