Went Mrs. C on my first pre opener trout scout for 2011. Looked at the West Carson in Hope Valley and at Crystal Springs. Then checked the East Carson above the Carson River Resort and Markleeville Creek. The West Carson is high as expected but is fishable in HV and the color is not too bad. There remains a lot of snow here. Down in the canyon the water is moving and may pose some problems at the Canyon Bridges. Crystal Springs CG will be opening on 4/29. The East Carson is high but doesn't look all that bad. Should be lots of fish in the slower spots around the CRR and above. Markleeville creek is high but fishable at Markleeville. Current Riverflows. W. Carson @ Woodfords 407 cfs. E. Carson @ Markleeville 1170. Should be a couple more scout trips to add to this before the opener.

Went to Easter Brunch at Topaz Lodge and took a little look at the West Walker upstream of Antelope Valley. The water was moving at a good clip but was fishable with bait or spinners in the slow spots. The color was a little off but it was far from the chocolate mess it will be by the end of the month. No one will be using dry flys for awhile.

Nice report,
Good to see we wont have to resort to twin lakes when we go to Walker on the 13th. Hopefully water looks the way it does now by the time we go, it should be.

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

We have warm weather coming in next week with temps in the 70's. You might want to check on flows before the 13th for sure:shrk0hr:.......Jetspray

Jetspray,

Just checked the weather channel, and wow. the town of walker is supposed to be in the low 80's for the next couple weeks. Never tried Robinson creek, might see me down there if the snow melt raises the water rapidly.
