Got to Lake Davis at 10 am to 5-6" of fresh snow. Windy and chilly, my father-in-law and I try some nightcrawlers and marshmellows 24" off the bottom. Had several light hits, probably 8-9 and landed three beautiful 15" bows with great color. 3 1/2 hours of wind and cold was enough so we headed back to the cabin. Caught 6 12" bass on a rooster tail at the pond by the cabin in about 20 min. Sorry for the bad picture.

Dpars,

Good for you! Glad you were successful! When my Dad first took me to Davis Lake all we ever did was drown worms, salmon eggs, etc....from the bank. When I got older I bought a boat to get to the fish across the lake and that really opens up a lot of great fishing! Try it the next time you go if you can.

Were you expecting to catch trout out of that pond or were you fishing for bass? I ask because I would love to catch a bass with a roostertail or p. martin but can't commit to switching from baby brush hogs until i've heard success stories/seen pictures:)

nice report!

No fish porn is a "bad picture", great to me. Davis is a good drive for me, but I just might take Bite Me 2 up there and get it wet......Jetspray

I wish I owned a cabin up there, but almost every year I rent one the the townhomes on the 8th hole at Plumas Pines. Very nice, and I can get my golf/fishing fix.

There are several ponds right next to the house and they hold tons of bass, mostly small.

As a kid I always caught lots of bass on rooster tails (mostly all black) in little ponds and lakes, so it's my normal staple when I fish ponds.

That's my first time fishing Lake Davis, and loved it. I'll try to hit it every year now. Maybe bring the boat next time.

Very nice! Im heading up in a few weeks and we are renting a cabin at Graeagle Meadows. Whenever I golf plumas pines I always spot those bass you talk about. Next year I will have to look into getting a place there.

Spray,

I don't mean to :beatdeadhorse5:but I have talked up Davis ever since I got on this site.
Consensus: I know a lot about Davis. With 5000 posts I am surprised you haven't been there and If i were you I would get there as soon as the weather clears. You won't regret it. It has always been a 4.5 or 5 Hour trip for me as well. This year's trip fell apart and I am bummed, but I will get back as soon as I can.
Send me a PM if you want any details - I am happy to help.
