Thanks OTB,

Little or no wind today, just fog.

That is the flow from the CWI, movin' hard and strong.

Next stop, Turlock Lake, 06-09-11
My buddy who was taking me to New Melones wants to fish here in his boat, Ok.

Great meeting you JwG and thanks for getting me into some fish! Was a nice time for only a few hours.

Don't you forget the one that got away. It was a NICE one. Largest of the day. Got off by the bank on a last ditch effort of escape. Got off on the run. If they have to leave the line it's the most fun on the run

Here's the proof of the run

Sorry for the pic size.

THANKS again JwG!
Or should I say
Cheers!

NO.... haha...
Actually just power eggs on a single hook with a split shot. Just like throwing real salmon eggs cept I didn't have any real ones :) Orange seemed to get the most hits but that might be because I threw that color the most.

Cheers

Great job guys, was planning on heading out there Friday and your reports are encouraging me! Need to hit it up as much as possible before the closure. By the way if you are able to make it up the inlet to where it turns into a canal that area is packed with trout.

Again, I had a great time with you, even if I did go swimming!

You should get up there shadbuster, we saw other people catching nice ones also.

Great job RideNFish and JwG!! I really enjoyed lookin at the pics while I am sitting here at my desk :( hope I can get out soon! The long spring is will make for some good trout fishing I think...cooler waters, especially up in the Sierras, will make things real nice :)

RideNfish was hot!
He does not even have time to take his pack off as he hits one on the move. The guy fishing just a little ways away had been there awhile and was just loosing gear. He saw RideNfish land this one and left. If it was me I would have asked what he was using and fished on!

I felt a bit bad. I wasn't close enough to him to fish his water and even asked it I was OK. He said "Please, go ahead." I wish he would of asked us about what we were doing. Would of loved to see him and especially his son get some fish! The other guy at the bottom end of the hole (Jim) was fun to talk to.

Oh well, most have a good time.

How did that guy get onto the other side? Did he park by the bridge? I thought that land was private property. Where the fish holding on the bottom, how much split shot were you guys using? If nothing unexpected comes up I will be there on Friday, I usually don't fish the inlet area much (usually stick the the main recreation area and do well there) but I think I will give it a try. Did catch a 10lb channel cat there once when I was a kid. By the way RideNfish haven't found any stripers in the Stani. yet, weird weather we have been having has the timing off, can hardly even catch a bass, water is cold at 50 degrees.

Might you be able to explain this a little better. I've fished the CWI about a dozen times or so but can't picture what you're talking about. Is this on the other side of the road, and not between the road and the lake.

Is this on the other side of the road, and not between the road and the lake. Its on the other side of the road, it turns into a concrete canal that runs up to Don Pedro, there is also a small lake halfways between Don Pedro and Turlock, all of Turlocks water comes from Don Pedro which is why it is so cold since it comes from the bottom of Don Pedro talked to some water district guys who told me turlock is the afterbay of Don Pedro. You would need a boat to access the area since it runs through private property.

The Tuolumne River is what comes out of Don Pedro so the canal must branch off from the river. Wonder where that might be. Might be fun to float a kayak down some day.

All you need to do is look at google to see. You won't kayak this. It is fed by an underground tunnel out of Lagrange Dam. When they don't want the water to go to Turlock Lake the open the valves to go into the Tuolumne.
