Made a trip up to amador to check the lake out and see if a few fishes were willing to bite for me. Trollers were trolling close to shore as always but they were knocking them dead. One boat was on a hot streak, everytime I looked up, they were hooked up. Anyways, I started off with a few panfish and after they slowed to a screeching halt I made my way over to the dam where I quickly found out it doesn't pay to leave your net at home. I managed to beach 4 but should of left with a limit if I had just brought my net.....kinda sucks watching fish flop back in the drink right at your feet....oh well that's fishing. With the amabows on the chew and seeing how active they are, I'm not afraid to spend a little money there this year....:D

Hey Bigg A,

Good job! All those fish are nice looking especially the pan fish and I have never fished for them before. Do you mind telling me what the trout were biting?

Cheers,

Sure.....I used a clear bubble, a swivel and about a 4-5 foot fluoro leader and a black fly with a dash of shrimp bang. Tons of short strikes but when the hungry fellas hit....oh man!!!!....instant drag burners. I'll be back up there next week for some more of that action

Great post Bigg Ant! Really like those panfish you caught; they're pretty good sizes! I am planning to try that place for the first time next weekend. Hopefully I'll get lucky, last three outings have been skunked :(

I miss your Salmon posts btw! I remember you were doing great out there for like, a good 2 to 3 weeks...it seemed like you had a fish every day.

Went out there today and limited out. Got a lot of miss grabs since they were mostly hitting on floating powerbait with or without a bobber. Caught one off of bobber with a powerworm jighead slow retrieve. Had a lot of hits this way too but they were just toying with it since I couldn't set the hook. I wonder when they gonna start planting them giant amabows. These small ones are too small for the price you pay to get in especially the long drive too when you're from sac.

Does it cost anything to come fish off the bank?

Thanks, I lost a bet with my boss on the USC v. Notre Dame game and my end of the bet was to take his kids fishing. I think I may have found my spot!
