Got my first trout Limit! My girlfriend and I decided to go to Amador this morning (she got her first limit too), I've been coming here for a couple of weeks but have only caught 2-3 fish per trip. She had so much fun that she wants to go back and do it again. Our limits were caught on powerbait and buggers, we fished from 6-10:30. If you can, I'd say go on a weekday, there is hardly anyone there!

Nice job on the double limit. It's great when the lady enjoys fishing too. What color dough snd buggers if you will share that info?

I was out there today too, for the first time. It seemed crowded to me. A passing boat turned sharply behind me and snagged my trolling lines. No apology, not a clue about boat etiquette. Other than that boat, other anglers were real nice. In particular, the two guys in a Lund.

Other than that, fishing was very good. I got my limit too on wooleybuggers (thanks to the Lund guys) and power egg/night crawler. The fish are really high in the water. It took some time to get the right depth.

All trout were 17 inches and were very tasty. I'd like to go back some day, but it's a long drive and expensive to fish.

What area did you fish? I was there as well but it took me from 6:30 until about 2:00 to get a limit. All were on wool buggers. I did put a bait rod out with power eggs but never got a hit.

Cheers,

nice work with the buggers. Maybe I left before the crowd came, but we were from shore and the closest person next to me was 30 yards away... Better than the weekends where your 5 feet apart.

Congrats on the double limits!!! Me and my brother were also there and left with both are limits around 10:00, it was a hot day with lots of bites and several lost fish also. I thought it was pretty crowded there yesterday, i guess it just depends on where you were fishing. We were on the shore and There was one boat after another for awile right out in front of us, most the guy's in the boats are rude!!!!! They could care less how close they come in to the shore,How long those of us on shore have to wait for them to troll through, or they stop right out in front of you and start casting, when they see your catching fish. Day's like yesteday make me miss my fishing hole at Pardee!!! Heres a pic of are catch 12/14

Nice meeting TazMan out there yesterday. He and his buddy were on fire. The bites were long time between for me and my friends. I did manage seven and kept a limit for my neighbors smoker. Always a good time of course. I concur with TazMan on the boats. Here we are as shore fisherman that only have this tiny piece of water we can work from a point and the boats have the whole damn lake. Then they squeeze in and even saw a troller hook up to bait lines from shore. UNBELIEVABLE. We have to wait a couple minutes before we can cast again if they have a 100' behind them.

Enough of that. We had FUN and here are a couple of pics.

Nice fish. This one was on the average or even lesser side.

My neighbor and his cousin that was visiting from out of state. They have fished together since they were kids. It was nice to see them having a good time. They are holding up our take home for the day.

Seeing alot of fish but no real size to them. At those prices, location, and sizes, Commanche ponds makes more sense to me. Looks like people are having a blast though!!! Congrats to all on the catches and fun times.

Congrats to all on the catches and fun times. As for the size of fish and the price to fish amador? This is my first year to fish amador, and i was alway's told about the big fish at amador and thats why it cost more. well I have yet to see any big fish being caught 6 # plus the only big one ive caught was 5 1/2 lbs and a beautiful trout but not the monsters everyone talks about. it seems each time we go we are catching smaller fish, 2 months ago the fish we caught were averaging 2 1/2 - 3 lbs now we are catching a few 2 lbers and the rest a little smaller. But i still have a great time fishing for amador trout for one reason (and this is why its worth the money to fish there) Where else can you catch planted trout in a lake that fight like these trout do? Hell we always loose about half as many as we catch if not more and thats what makes it fun to me. It was great meeting doug aka (ridenfish) there yesterday. im glad you got your limit. steve

Way 2 go Doug, looks like they are hungry again :)

Guy's im sure there's hawgs in there. No one ever said come to Amador and catch limits of 10lb.+ fish :) Just cause theres no pic's. Who's to say that several +5lb.er's havent been caught in the last couple weeks, some people don't talk to the gate workers or post pic's. On of these days my wooly bugger and i will prove it :p

Ive been going 3 times a week for the last couple months and have been lucky enough to catch one over 5 lbs, so yes they are out there are there a lot of them??? Your guess is as good as mine. Enjoy it anytime you can go out and catch some fish what ever the size. It sure beats the hell out of working!!!!:)

I hear ya.....My wife asks all the time.."Why do you go all the way there for those little fish and pay that money". I've tried dozens of times to try and explain it to her.....it's the fight that these fish have in them that keeps guys and gals going back for more. No matter the size, those guys are drag burners and I love to listen to my drag sing. I also love when you get'em close and they're sloshing all around doing death rolls trying to escape before they're brought to justice

Have you fished the pond this year? Its been dead and the fish don't fight nearly as hard. For the extra $7 I'll fish Amador

Yeah, and I don't like the "Kiddie pond" feel of fishing a barrel along with combat fishing. I pass right on by and head to the lake. IMO

Do you use a net at all from shore, or just pull them onto the bank? Are the fish big/strong enough to break a 4# leader dragging them on shore?

I have fished both places a few times this year from my tube. Coming from Sac its $40 for the tank, $18 for the tube and right to fish, whatever $$ you spend on bait, $ to pay off the mrs., other exspenses, etc... But at least the guys running over lines and trolling 20 yards from the bank with no regard for the shore guys, tubers is free!! Dont get me wrong, I love Amador but just haven't seen or heard of any of the large hogs that it is known for show up online, in pics, whispered about at the coffee shop or on the end of my line!!!. I always have a good time but haven't seen any bigger fishies is all I am sayin. I dont see much of a diff. in fishing either hole as far a the combat goes, that doesn't really bother me as I can pretty much float to areas that aren't so crowded, when need be. I would suggest that we all start a little competition for the largest Amador trout caught moving forward!!! Only pics put up online here will be considered and we can keep a healthy, unbiased, friendly, member voted on competition going until the lake shuts down. What say you? I also say Tazman and JVang should be excluded cause they both have caught a thousand fish more than me this year!! No fair!!!

I like your idea for one reason only, ive yet to see a pic other than this one this year of a 24 in 5 1/2/lber oh and yeah i caught it. LOL

I use a net sometimes but most of the time I just try and flop'em up on the bank
