Arrived at Lake Amador at 6:00am and it was a chilly morning. I have bank fished Amador the last few years, but I decided to troll today with my dad... just like old times. It was a strange morning bite wise, within 20 minutes we started getting short strikes on our grubs. Sadly it was a rough bite for the first half of the day, and we only had one trout in the box by 12:00pm. Suddenly at 12:05, my dad and I get an instant double and the bite starts to kick off. We found a " honey hole " and are racing to get our lines out fast enough. Every pass we make, we either get a hit or a fish on and the bite stays consistent like this until 3pm. We finish the day with 9 trout in the box and lost just as many, if not more. I was suprised on the SIZE of the trout today. We had two trout in the 7 lb range, and another two in the 3-4 lb range, with the rest varying 1-3 lbs. Its been a long time since I trolled Amador or even posted on the sniffer, just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

glad to see you got them!!! I took the GF out there yesterday trolling and it was slow (probably due to all the freaking boats). We boated 3 (one with a tag) and missed 7 others. All hits came on grubs and 1 on a rapala..

Yea Saturday (12-24) was less pressure, mabey 15 boats out that day. Grubs always seem to be my go to bait when trolling Amador. My favorite colors are firetiger, orange, pearl, and black. I would recommend trying to get away from all the boats and find a place on the lake with less fishing pressure and see if you can find a school of fish that way.
