Talked to a guy coming out of Bear River the other day, he said the bite was on. They pulled in over 20 trout a good mix of browns and rainbows up to 3#s and a few macks in their boat that they kept, he showed me one fat mack 10#+ it looked like. They launched off the shore. Lake is pretty low. I took pix of the lake, I didn't fish. Was a recon trip for me, I wasn't sure I could get in there, after hearing that wish had brought my boat! Was a few boats out there. I have had quite a few 20+ brown days there before. Biggest ever brown there 7#s.

Thnx for the update.... Let me know if you find any of my Downrigger balls there... I've lost a few..... That lake is really low.... With this upcoming series of storms it may make the lake inaccessible.... Get some while you can and keep us posted.

I should get up there before the storms, I know just where I left the last few downrigger weights! Don't think we could launch the big boat there, but we have a few smaller boats on our team. The 15 foot klamath, or the 16 foot crestliner would go in off the beach just fine. Thanks for the photos. My father passed away there almost 3 years ago after a long battle with cancer. My family has and will continue to spend many years there.

PM sent! If you don't mind doing a bit of work getting the boat, motor, gear in and out, lets do it! Big trout await at Salt!

At Bear River we found 2 downrigger weights on the shore on the other side of the lake, also 4 dodgers, flashers, some rusty hooked F-11 and F-13 Rapala's, one Trophy Stick with a big crack down the middle at least the hooks were still good on it!

:yikes: Holy crap, I personally have never seen that lake that low. I've been thinking a lot about that lake lately, beings the weather has been so nice. Hope to God we start getting some snow and/or rain to get that baby filled up with water before spring or summer.

Was up there last week. Could not believe lack of snow. Hiked up to upper. It was about 80% iced over. May not be able to fish lower for long 1 week tops it will be iced over. Here's some pics of my day. Good luck if you make to salt. Dave http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/2294/macks11312128.jpg

AmericanR-guy,
I'll send you my address..... Can you fed ex my Downrigger weights back to me? Lol... I bet there is all kinds of good treasures to find with the water that low....

Let us know how salt springs goes.... Last time we went we nearly left our boat there bc it was so tough hiking it back out.... I considered shooting a few holes in it to sink it.... And cutting my losses. Ended up using the winch on my quad to get it out. Have fun and happy fishing.... Looking forward to hearing about it.

42 miles east of jackson off hwy 88, 3 miles down in the canyon to the right. We will be there again in june for several days for the trout derby. Hopefully we get enough rain to fill it back up.
