Headed out this morning to see if we could find some ducks, yes I said ducks. Lol This is the trout forum but wait the story will lead to trout. we make our way to where we have seen some widgeon hanging out so we set a few decoys out and the fog rolls in, not what we wanted to see. We sit there a while and one hen comes in and she is the first duck of the morning and Bailey is on her way back with her.

We sat there for a while knowing that the ducks would not fly in to this spot with the fog so we decided to pack it up and head over to a spot I've been catching a few fish.

Pic of Bailey

It was'nt long and we were in prime trout country and we made short work of them trolling CD7 Rapalas down on the south end of the lake, it just goes to show it pays off to be prepared for the worst and make the best of a blown hunt.

Here's a Pic of the single widgeon and trout.

Going to look at the weather and see what we can put together for tomorrow morning.

Well done Kyle....the luxuries of having New Melones in your own back yard....Nothing like goin huntin an fishing and being able to be home well before lunch time....

I hope your hunt tomorrow is as successful as your fishing was today....I'm sure Bailey has her paws crossed too...:peabody:

Happy Fishing/Hunting.....

Prettiest trout I have ever seen and not in a weird way. Been out in the bay on a blind when it was really nice weather and slow hunting, and wished I had a pole to toss out and kill some time. Great post.
