With the lack of rain and fresh water coming in I think it will be an early year for the butt action. Just my opinion :-?

Where did you hear that from? *and where in the bay?

I'll guess the fish probably came in from either the Berkeley Flats, or the South Bay?

ZACK!

PS. Donzi, my offer of showing you around the bay still stands.....

Just a couple of months away. :)

I want to try my hand at catching buts that is only a Muni ride awat. Do I need a bay/delta enhancement stamp to be able to fish from the shore in Crissy Field? Where does the bay delta stamp apply?

The bay and delta stamp goes in effect as soon as you go inside the Golden Gate, so to answer your question, yes you do need one.

This thread kind of fell off the radar, but has there been any butts caught recently? Is there any consistancy or quality to the butts caught in the bay? Is it heating up? Did it cool right off again? Any more updates?

I've heard confirmed reports of 'buts caught from the Berkeley area, the ARW, and as far south as Oyster Point and Coyote Point.

Time to be the rumor and stop chasing the rumor!

Yeah RH I get the sentiment start fishing for fish and quit fishing for tips. I just wanted to see if halibut fishing was any good. I am having a real problem deciding between jetty fishing for rockfish or bay fishing for butts. Such a tough life, and even harder decisions ;) what's a guy to do...

I have to wait until there is alot of rumors of fish being caught, in the bay. This is because for me to go fishin oneway to berkley is 168 miles, bodega 183 miles, brannnon island 97miles, pittsburg 116 miles and new melones 23 miles. Thats why I try to always stay a couple of days when I go fishin.

Then it's probably not worth the drive!....yet.

The rumors are true regarding Oyster Point! I was there on Sunday 03/25/07 and the guys in the 17 foot CC. I think it was a Grandson/Grandpa team that caught 2 legal size halibuts on frozen anchovies. The new bait store owner took pictures. 1 was caught 200 yards out in front of the pier and the other near the A-frame!

They asked me how did I do! I bobbed around like an idiot, playing with sharks and rays! :-/

I was advised of what was going on and what to use >:( But NO, I decided to sit there and catch sharks and rays! :P

OK, I'm being hard on myself! :-/ Not an idiot, just slightly challenged! ::)

Hey, I'd take a shark or a ray over a skunk any day! ;)

Yeah i can't wait till they get up and running, i have always missed the "suicide" bite. Either it was last week or the week after but never on the day that I'm fishing. But hey I'm practicing in the mirror daily to maintain the posture of holding my mouth right.

The odds are in your favor that you will hit the bite soon, so keep trying!
