Some have asked.. Here's an example.. Aintscared is in his 14' Klamath out of HMB right now, fishing for dabs in 150' of water. Good water.. let your conscience be your guide and never get further away than your motor can get you back from in a hurry!

last weekend 70* in santa cruz and flat a$$ calm....
you could go out to the mile bouy with no problem
and just another 1/2 mi further they were slamming
sand dabbs and salmon...
all salmon were put back as that is not open yet....
but OH BOY.... it looks as if its going to be a good opener....
lots of bait balls already and the winter swells have been
next to nothing... 14ft is way doable.....

Good things to have on a small vessel are, a submersible handheld marine radio $100.00, cheap GPS $100.00 and a flare gun. *Wal-Mart has both of these items and you might want to consider getting them. *Another good idea is to always wear your PFD and have a pocket sewn into it so you can have your radio and possibly the GPS on you at all times. * I know this may sound like an overreaction, but you should always remember your boat is small and the ocean can change quickly. *You are better off having these items and never needing them than needing them and drowning. *As soon as bottom fishing opens up I will be taking my 12 foot aluminum out to do some quality rock cod fishing but I will always be overly cautious while in my 12 footer. *

ROGER THAT CAPTAIN ;), I have all of that stuff and wear my PDF.. I dont have a GPS yet though I really would love one... I have been lost in my boat in the fog out of Bodega Head in my boat while trolling for salmon..... NOT FUN :-/ luckly it was a calm day and I finally got my bearing and made my way back... :o the swell died, the sun and the land disapeared and that was that..
