I've been seeing reports recently that Rockfish is open out in Monterey. I've also heard you don't have to drive 40 miles out to catch them. I'd love to give that a shot on my next Salmon outing here soon. This is also something I know absoluteley nothing about. Anyone care to give a few pointers? If launching in Moss Landing, where are the rockfish grounds??? Just typical shrimp flys and diamond bars for Lings? Depth? Any help is very much appreciated!

Make sure you go for rockfish first.Any salmon on the boat while fishing for rockfish means you have to use barbless hooks.I would launch out of Santacruz if going for both species. Go out the harbor and take a right. Go past the lighthouse.#s are N36'55.513/W122'01.610 and N36'55.426/W122'01.847 Depth range 113ft. to 65 ft.Also N36'54.205/W122'01.056--N36'53.733/W121'59.754. there is also some reefs in front of capitola.look at a topo map if you have one.
