I m gettting disappointed with you local fishermen. Dont you know its your privalage & duty to keep us valley fishermen, who cant make it out all that often updated on whats going on in and around the bay. We want; updates, pics, gossip & even your B.S. stories especially you retired guys who are out there almost daily. So quit slackin get your lines wet and * * * * * * * * * ** DO YOUR JOB. *thanks from all of us out in the valley *;)

looked at your last 25 post and there was nothing
about the fishing in the valley and whats bitting....
I say do your part and get us some info on the valley sene.....
its the give and take that makes this work...
if everyone is taking there won't be much giving......

I'll trade you a hot spot for a valley salmon hot spot
or a striper one will do....
and not just the rio vista biting, its gotta be better than that... ;) :)

Sorry to say this, but .... if you want more saltwater reports, you may have to check out Coastside. For freshwater bassin, it's westernbass. For flyfishing, it's NCFFB. etc ... The Fishsniffer is great if you're into all kinds of fishing. A little of everything. Some areas stronger than others, like trout.

But here's a summary, salmon fishing isn't red hot. Put in your time and you may get a 20-40lb hog out there. A few halis caught in the bay, but nothing exciting. Stripers in the bay are hit or miss, with the big push already on their way up. Rockies are great still!

They are talking about returning salmon to the valley. I think 2014 is the prediction for salmon up the san jauquin again. This will be a great time for valley fisherman. Will let you know when the run is on Crush.

thanks hair raiser....
my brother lives like a 1/4mile from whimpys and gets
the scoop for me 1st hand as he stops in there and talks
with the guys, but I have nothing further up, so thanks.....

in the north bay the schoolie stripers have been non stop
action 5/8lbs and sturgeon on or near the MBF has been
kicking out some good #s.....
as for the south bay, on incoming tides in the shallows
like 6/12ft chovies, herring and grass shrimp have been
getting sm stripers and halibut....trolling with a flasher and
herring/or hoochies around the brisbane tube area [caddlestick]
had been off and on for small to med halibut.....
salmon at duxberry reef outside the gate has produced some
salmon to 40lbs but seems like one fish per rod is norm....
ano north of santa cruz has limits of med to lg rockies....
and lings too.....but the south west swell is making this weekend
not much fun.....but the surfing is awsome.....
plus in santa cruz this weekend is the cold water classic....
if you want to see surfing at its best, the contest draws out
pros from around the world....its been about 6-8ft sunday may
drop alittle.....thats it.......

jerdh71..... you have mail...... :)

the san jauquin river im talking about is not the delta. It feeds from millerton lake in fresno/friant to the ocean I guess. Kings in Fresno 2014 get your gear ready.
Thanks for the report. sounds like I might get one more run at it this year.

For freshwater bassin, it's westernbass.
It must be a regional kind of thing, but everytime I have looked at western bass for reports in the South bay they were like 1 month old.
