I will be in Eureka this weekend and hope to get in some fishing from shore. Was wondering if anyone could let me know of spots or tricks or whatever you think would get a couple fish on the line.

Your best bet would be to head over to the trinity via 299. Start at Cedar Flat and work your way up.

You can try fishing the jetties (north or south) for rockfish, but the ocean swell is pretty rough right now so you can't go real far out to the best spots. Use plastics such as grubs or bait like squid, anchovies, shrimp, etc. The shoreline rocks around the little village of King Salmon can be good for perch in the daytime. Lots of sharks and rays can be caught in the bay at night using squid almost anywhere, but the King Salmon shoreline is probably your best bet. Fishing's been slow on the Eureka piers lately.
